Val in in a booth in the bar. It looks like she's been there all night. What's different than usual is that it looks like she's fallen asleep. She has her laptop, and she's sleeping on it. Can anyone say keyboard face? Her headphones are on, so one might have to shake her.

Val. Warren hasn't spoken to Val in...some time. It's a shame, is what it is.

He takes a seat across from her.

"Hey."

He waits for her to respond. After a moment he asks:

"...Are you asleep?"

After another moment, he lifts her headphones off of one ear and clears his throat.

She blinks, muttering in her sleep. "Peter, lemme 'lone. Gotta finish the book so I can go to Luke... gotta get Vader out of my head...." She starts, however, looking up, and blushing through a bad case of keyboard face. "Oh, um, hey Warren, sorry. I seem to have finally broken my insomnia."

He rubs his own face, subconciously. He's been there.

"Ah. Book?" He asks.

"Book?" She blinks. "Grah. I was talking in my semi-sleep, wasn't I?" She blushes a bit. "I'm writing a book on the bar. Nothing exciting, but my subconscious seems to be working overtime."

"They do that," he agrees. "How, uh, are you? Otherwise."

She shrugs a bit. "Tired, stressed, thinking too bloody much, but I guess I'm alright. No different than I usally am." She smiles, a bit vacantly. "How're things with Isabel?"

He smiles back, a littled forcedly.

"Fine. Fine. Good as new."

And it's the gentle pretending that everything's perfectly fine. She smiles back, a bit tiredly. "That's great. I was worried about the two of you for a while." She knows. Of course she does.

*Alanna is on a subtle quest for a certain item of clothing. She sees Val and stops in her tracks. Should she disturb her? Perhaps not. Then again, she hasn't looked in that particular booth yet.

It would really help if she could remember exactly where in the bar they had been sitting last night.*

Val? *She winces at the sound of her own voice.* You alright?

Val is talking in her sleep as she lies on the keyboard. It would seem that she fell back to sleep after talking to Warren.

Wha? *Alanna furrows her brow and lightly shakes Val's shoulder.* Valentine! Wake up. Either wake up or let me get you a pillow. That's going to leave a mark.

*Val's words send a chill down her spine.*

Blink, shift, blink. Val sits up like a spark, looking panicked. "He's... gone. It was a dream..." She blushes a bit at Alanna. "I'm sorry, Alanna. Was having a bit of a dream."

*Alanna bites her lip and sits down on the edge of the booth. She stares at Val with concerned eyes and wraps her up in a big bear hug. She's feeling very huggy tonight.

She must be hungover.*

No apologies necessary, Val. *She pulls back, trying to catch Val's gaze.*

What's the matter?

She hugs Alanna back tightly, clinging a bit. "Nothing, really. Just a bad stream of insomnia." She sighs. "I guess avoiding Luke's not the best idea, either when I'm in this mood." Oh, but it is. It really is.

You too? *Alanna sighs wearily, running a hand through her hair.* I haven't slept well in a week. I have no trouble falling asleep. I'm always tired, I just have bad dreams. Also, sometimes the silence wakes me up. It's too eerie. *Her eyes dart madly about the room.* Please don't avoid Luke. I suspect that may be contributing to your sleeplessness.

"I just can't sleep. It's the bloody dreams. He won't leave me alone. Every time I fall asleep, he's there." She shakes her head. "I'm sorry, Alanna. It doesn't make sense. I can't explain it."

She hums quietly as she sneaks up on Val with a mischevious glint in her eye.

And Val sleeps away on her keyboard, dreaming a bit. She's a fairly heavy sleeper.

She leans over, gently takes the headphones off, and slowly begins the process of removing the laptop from under her head. She supports Val so she doesn't go *bonk*, naturally.

Val sleeps on. The universe could end around her, and she wouldn't notice. It's actually good. She's getting the first real sleep she's had in a week.

She gently lays Val's head on the table, then fetches a pillow from the couch. This she lifts Val one more time for, and slips it under her.

Then she turns the laptop towards herself. "She'd said something about saving everything last time I took it from her . . . how did she do it?" She leans over and peers at the keyboard.

And somehow, that wakes Val up. "Mina! Oh, uh, hi. I kinda need that." She flails a bit, reaching over for it.

"I got you a replacement pillow. You don't need this . . ." A sly smile on her lips.

She's awake now. "Oh, thanks for the pillow, but I'm awake now, and I kinda need that back." She looks a bit panicked.
