Jemma steps into the bar in the middle of a day of meetings, and blinks at her surroundings in surprise - it's been a while since this place has shown up. Automatically she stuffs the lanyard around her neck under her sweater before heading for the bar.

"Hey princess." Jay looks up from his laptop, feet up on the table. "Saved the world today?"

"Not even a small bit of it - there's been meetings today, so I'm fairly sure I'm responsible for killing at least a handful of trees to supply notes to everyone." This is something she finds vaguely ridiculous - they have awesome 3-D holoprojectors, but they have to have paper notes for people to write on?

This is why she got the high-grade coffee from the bar. It's that sort of day.

"Some people just have to think on paper." He shakes his own notebook at her as he pushes the laptop aside. "Join me? I'm not winning this fight."

"What feat of daring are you attempting today?" Jemma asks in return, taking the offered spot at the table, and sending a rat to fetch snacks.

He signs and leans back. "I've designed a security system for a friend with a randomised rotating frequency to make it harder to hack. Problem is every time he comes here, it drops the timers out of sync by a couple of second. I need to find a way to patch around it."

"Is it a constant rate of variance, or does it change every visit?" She asks after a few moments of thought - it isn't her field, really, but she's worked with Fitz long enough that a few things have carried over.

"The span seems to be variable and different for different worlds. I think what I need is a mechanism to sync the timers back up at proximity that won't take too much away from the runtime of the lock." It's nice to talk to someone he doesn't have to dumb this down for.
