No one could say that Sonya didn't take Javert's advice to heart. Her duties back home took up every moment of her time (and when it didn't she was still preparing for them), but milliways was where time stopped, and volunteering to work at the stables would be-in her opinion-a good way to unwind. Plus, it was a chance to learn how to ride horses again, so she couldn't see why she'd refuse.
Grabbing a pen and paper, she wrote down a note meant for this William Evans. From Javert's description, he shouldn't be that hard to find, but given where she was, Sonya felt it was easier and quicker to just have the note sent to him via Ms. Bar.
Mr. Evans,
I heard from Javert that you might be in need of volunteers to help with the horses on the grounds? While I'm not a horse expert, I've some basic experience with riding and would be willing to learn if you have the time. It would actually be a welcome respite from my duties back home.
Please respond through Bar if you're not immediately able to get in touch. I'm usually dressed in black or green army fatigues.
Signed,
Sonya Blade, US Army.
That this William Evans might not be in the bar at the time was entirely likely, but that didn't stop Sonya from taking a mug of tea and taking a seat, She was here, might as well have one.

When he turned in her direction, she gave a small wave over to him from her table. "You're William Evans, then?"

"I am." She takes a seat down with him. "It's been years since I've ridden a horse, but I've been looking into it again and since the stables need help-two birds with one stone." Even better since this could be an exchange and she wouldn't have to pay for lessons back home.

If she hasn't ridden for a while, that's not terribly hopeful but she's a soldier so she must know a lot of other stuff.

Even if it's been while, there were some things one didn't forget-especially if it sometimes involved work as a result of being restricted. Least she wasn't a total novice.

He's not sure what else she needs to know, he's only one person who works in the stables.

"Mind showing me around? What's supplied and where everything goes and so forth." Even if she was familiar, it had been awhile.

He sets his coffee back down on the counter and starts out towards the back door, looking behind to see that she's following.

The smell of hay and horse hit her before they got to the stables, as large as one expected for such a place. She'd experienced worse smells in her travels, so she felt she could adapt well enough.

"There's a coffee pot, stove and cot in there if you ever need to spend longer here. All the tack's in here, hay and feed in here. Most of the horses are out in the paddock as the weather's been so nice."

"When should the horses be let back inside? Sunset or when it's dark? Horse blankets or no?" Best to get these questions out of the way.
