Job done. The bad guys are dead and the girls are home safely. Overall, Jay’s in a pretty good mood. Time to kick back.

He may have had a few before he started his shift but that doesn’t seem to be affecting his game much.

Wryly: "Well, I don't believe I've ever played pool."

Sherral has a file with him as he approaches, with something illegible scribbled on the front and several colour-coded sections, because he is An Well-Organised Officer And Stuff. He's not looking at it right now, though.

"Or heard of it, for that matter."

"Even better!" Jay grins, taking the file off Sherral and putting it aside. Can't relax if you're thinking about work.

He hands Sherral a cue. "The aim of the game is to use the white ball to knock the coloured balls into the pockets, preferentially before your opponent sinks all of theirs. Like so."

He demonstrated by lining up the tip of the cue to bounce the white ball off one of the yellow balls, knocking it into a pocket.

"We take turns and if you sink one, you get another go. However if you sink the black ball; game over, you loss. Make sense? Have a practise go before I reset the table."

Sherral crooks an eyebrow down, but tries mimicking Jay. The white ball moves, but doesn't actually hit any of the other balls - more because of a lack of appropriate technique than a lack of hand-eye coordination.

Sherral grumbles slightly. "Am I permitted to use supernatural powers if you don't see me do it?"

"Cheat!" Jay growls playfully and give Sherral a gentle bump. "It' does help to have a couple of drinks in you, just to loosen up."

He leans over Sherral, practically draping himself against him to help him adjust his grip, showing him how to slide the cue across the top of his hand.

"You're making it difficult to focus," Sherral notes - although it seems that despite any such reduced focus, he's still a relatively quick study, as this time he at least manages to bounce the white ball off another ball.

"Hey, I know how good you are. Think I'm going to teach you and then let you kick my ass without a little distraction?" Jay purrs, withdrawing his touch in a slow, intentional slide up Sherral's arm.

"You are incorrigible and a flatterer," Sherral says firmly, nudging backwards against Jay. "Your turn, I think."

Charles grins at the specials and Jay who feels happy, he's rather tired as he's trying to make a variety of personalities work together,

"I know how to play pool but I'm not terribly good. Why don't you pick a drink for me?"

"Something you've known for a very, very long time now." Jay teases, leaning over the table to take his shot (and make sure Sherral has a good view as he does. He makes sure to sink the first one and miss the second, trying not to make it look like he's going easy on Sherral.

Sherral laughs, pacing around the table. Wryly: "Did you miss that on purpose?" Pause. "I've seen you shoot, I have a fairly firm grasp on how good your hand-eye coordination skills are."

"I would have thought Raven would have you hustling the tables by now?" Jay greets him with a warm hug. "Hey gorgeous. You look like you could do with a pick-me-up?"

He slides across the bar and starts exploring bottles. He pours Charles a shot that appears to be mostly coffee.

Jay grins back, trying to look innocent. "Would I do that? Besides, you won't get a chance to practice if I clear the table before you get another turn."

"No, never that, she prefers doing it herself. She has far more flair, I just stand beside her and look boring and foolish. It worked better when I was younger, she would sweep into some nightclub in the City that we probably shouldn't have been in and no one would even blink at me,"

He eyes the shot and downs it in two gulps before making face.

"I really have to meet this girl." Jay laughs. "She sounds like fun." Not that he'd let Charles' sister get into trouble.

"At least it'll wake you up." He hands Charles a glass of water and mixes him up a smooth scotch and dry to enjoy.

"You would do that," Sherral says gravely, taking a shot and failing to pot any balls. "You would definitely do that."

"I don't need to wake up, but thank you anyway. What's got you into such a good mood? She is, she's wonderful,"

His life would have taken a harder path without Raven in it.

"Consider this a practice round. You can challenge me properly when you've got the hang of it." Jay offers, playing a quick trick shot to bounce the white ball across the length of the table and pocket the ball behind where it started.

"Gorgeous, you look like you haven't slept a full night in a while." Jay soothes, resting a hand on Charles' shoulder. "Besides, if you're going to beat me at pool, you'll need to energy."

He shrugs and leans against the bar. "Bad week that all turned out okay. Gotta celebrate the wins." He shares with Charles the look on the tribe's faces as he and William rode into the village, the two little girls safely returned to their families. He's careful not to share what lead up to that because tonight is about enjoying the success.

"It's a touch optimistic to think I will get the hang of it," Sherral says amusedly.

Jay leans in close, "You forget. I've seen you fight too. I know how fast you learn and how hard you play."

"We have some new recruits and Erik and I were off traveling. Its made my days rather full,"

He smiles at Jay having something so happy an answer and leans back into him.

Sherral laughs, inclining his head towards Jay's. "Thank you for the kind compliment."

"Ah! No wonder you're not getting any sleep." Jay grins, leeringly and playful. "All that travelling."

Jay grins and enjoys sharing the party that followed; a celebration of community and warmth and appreciation. Little Anuli asleep in his lap, refusing to let go of her Blood Ghost.

"It's the truth." Jay growls softly, brushing his lips against Sherral's jaw. "Hell, I have to bruises to prove it."

"You don't seem entirely interested in playing this game," Sherral says, with Extreme And Not At All Mocking Solemnity.
