The harvest is good but it seems that every day, there's something more to bring in. Will hasn't spent much time inside except to sleep but then no one has. When he finds Milliways inside Locksley, he smiles, he's had time to take a swim and clean off and he's dressed simply in a linen shirt and brown breeches.

His hair's still wet as he goes to the bar to get a beer along with a fish and chips for dinner, its been too long since he's had it. Then he settles in a table, stretching his legs out to rest on a chair and watch Milliways go by.

Athelstan is by the fire, which is rapidly becoming his favourite spot. He looks up and smiles a friendly greeting as Will sits down.

Will stares for a moment when he sees him, he doesn't remember ever having seen a monk in Milliways before.

He stands up and walks over with his drink before sitting down by the fire, "Good day to ye, brother."

"And to you. My name is Athelstan."

"I"m Will Scarlett o'Nottingham. What king rules in yer time, Brother Athelstan?"

That's the best way he's found to get any kind of idea of time with men who might be of his time.

"Many", he says with a fleeting smile. "But in my own kingdom, Aelle of Northumbria."

He nods, this monk is from before England came together, "Oh aye an what monastery are ye from?"

"The brotherhood on Lindisfarne", Athelstan tells him. "They tell me it's still famed in later years."

"Aye, I've 'eard o'it."

He smiles happily. "And what year are you from, Will Scarlett?"

Will mentions a year in the 1180s, "Durin' the reign o'King Richard the first o'England."

"...Richard of England?" His eyes gleam with sudden increased interest. "England is united?"

"Aye, na always an easy alliance but still there's an England."

"How so, not always an easy alliance?"

"Men with power dinna always wish to share it but England is stronger workin' together."

"When did it come to happen?" he asks, fascinated. "That it was first under one king?"

"I'm na certain o'the year but was under a king with yer name, Athelstan."

"A king with my name?" He grins crookedly. "I'm from no kingly line, so that's flattering."

"Oh aye, I'm named for a king, William the Conqueror."

"He must have been after my time as well. Which land did he conquer?"

"England, 'e defeated King Edward at the Battle o''astings."

"Hastings", Athelstan says slowly. "In... Sussex, is that right? A fishing town."

"Aye, though dinna know 'bout the fishin', ne'er been that far south."

"It would be a good place to land", he says with a nod. "I've only passed through it briefly."

"What took ye that far south?"

"Travel to other monasteries, to visit their relics and learn from their scribes."
