Some time after confronting Lecter, Guppy comes back downstairs and leaves a note for Gene.
Gene,
Lecter's back, and has been trying to convince everyone else (including myself and Fry) that it's all in our minds. I've just seen him covered in blood, apparently not his own, sitting right in the middle of the bar. He appeared particularly unhinged and made a number of non-specific threatening remarks.
I've sent him to get a shower and I have the whole thing recorded on my phone. I don't think he's done anything Security can nail him on here, but I could do with talking to you soon if you're around.
Guppy
With that, he sits at the bar, casually crocheting what looks to be a very small hat.

'What's he done, then?' he says, slumping into a chair and lighting a fag.

"Difficult to say, but he was drenched in blood, so the person he attacked at home is either dead or dying. He presented as a lot more unsettled than he has previously, the cracks are starting to appear and he's resorting to trying to make more people think they have mental health problems to cover his tracks."
He shakes his head slightly in frustration. "Which doesn't work on me. He tried it on Fry, who apparently didn't understand that me telling him that Lecter wasn't his friend and to stay away from him meant he wasn't to talk to him. Don't think it worked on him either, far as I can tell.
"Mostly I'm concerned that Lecter is being cornered in his own world and is becoming increasingly insane."

'Yeah, the Frog spoke to him to an' left a note. Says he tried to kill someone called Will Graham - you know him? And maybe some others.'
Scowl aside - and reports of dead people aside - Gene sees this as a positive turn of events. Lecter can no longer claim he's innocent of being a murdering bastard. That's something.

"No I don't, does he come here? If he's killing people here outside, is it because of stuff he's finding out in here?"
He tucks his hands back in his pockets, not wanting Gene to see that whenever this comes up, they start trembling a little bit.
"What about his two colleagues here?"

Top class Detecting in progress! He slides Javert's note over to Guppy.
'Another patron as well, though. But not here so we can't do anythin', as usual. I don't know anythin' about what he finds out in here or why he's doing it - he's a nutjob, that's all. He doesn' need a reason if he's only listening to the little voices in his head.'

"Gene, I know we can't do anything about what's happening outside but I have a really bad feeling here. People who are cornered, who have nothing to lose... I mean you know more about serial killers than I do."
He gets his phone out of his pocket, gets to the relevant recording, and places it on the table. It's a little muffled, because it was in his pocket at the time.
'"You're rationalising your bone-deep horror at the idea of somebody or something eating what you call people... and the argument you're using to yourself is hygiene problems. That is, in fact, quite ridiculous..."'
He plays it through until '"How very willing you all are to treat me as if my brain had stopped working...You might regret that."'
no subject
'I'll make his bloody brain stop working,' he mutters, lighting another fag off the end of his first.
He lets out a long, frustrated breath.
'That's almost a threat there, but still not anythin' we can do something about. We'll just have to keep an eye on him while he's here. With any luck he'll shove off before the end of the day.'
no subject
"According to Fry, he tried to find out how many metres he needed to stay away from Lecter, and Lecter told him he was able to throw knives, so he decided it was six metres. Apparently Lecter called him 'obsessed'. One of the French men took Fry aside, got him out of the situation."
no subject
He didn't know there was more than one French...oh wait, maybe he did. Whatever.
'You really need to just keep him away from him, if you can. I don' reckon Lecter'll hurt him, but you don't wanna take that risk.'

"Been a bit busy." he says. "We kind of had another baby we weren't expecting, and he was really early."

Still. He nods at Guppy's crocheting. "Baby clothes?"

"He's allowed visitors other than me and Fran now if you want to come meet him."

They come out at the main entrance to the hospital, and Guppy leads the way upstairs.
"Think they might recognise you from last time. Doesn't seem long since Coral was in here."
