All Hail The Birthday Queen

Clementine has one up on Bar this time. She's only VAGUELY drunk as she steps through the door. And not even a little bit maudlin.

"Milliways?" She grins. "All right."

Because she's bound to get even MORE free birthday shots here, of course.

Once she settles down beside it, Bar presents her with a cupcake and a small cup of vodka. The cupcake sprinkled lavishly with edible glitter, and the vodka

"And this is why I love you," she tells Bar, before peeling back the paper cup wrapped around the cake. She's completely botherable and looking for company.

A very familiar posterior deposits itself in the seat next to her, along with the person it's attached to.

"Hey, beautiful."

Oh look - it's her favorite posterior.

And her boyfriend. The two are attached after all. "Hey yourself," she says, batting her eyelashes at him. "Want some?"

The cupcake is indicated. He can pick and choose what she means.

In either case the answer's yes.

"You bet I do. Having a good birthday?"

"Better now that you're here."

It's sentimental but it's true. Bar produces a second fork for Sam - with a note attached that demands they not smear icing all over each other in her presence.

Give them a little credit here - they both know the rules.

(Besides, that kind of thing is for their eyes only. Mostly.)

"Glad I could make it better."

Pft, tell that to the trees out back. And the barn. And the lake...

"You always make it better." Cue all the leaning against him while she licks her sparkly thumb. "Uh, hello?" Nudge. Hint. Sam. Hint?

Hey, he said mostly.

"Thanks for the subtle hint."

He grins at her, going in for a kiss while she's still got frosting on her lips.

And at least several of the walls in the upstairs hall.

"I'm nothing if not subtle," she replied lightly, and grabs him by the back of the head to fully kiss him.

His brief laugh is quickly muffled by the kiss, which he eagerly returns.

"Sure. You're the master of being low-key."

He teases because he loves her, honest.

She deliberately musses up his hair when he lets her go, too. "If I were low key you wouldn't be in this relationship," she points out. Tease, meet tease. She'll play with the hair on the back of his hand for a bit in response.

"Yeah... you got me there."

And aren't they both glad she does.

"So what do you want for your birthday?"

(He does have something in mind, of course.)

There is an Exasperated sigh. "You don't' ask a lady what she wants for her birthday, Sam."

"Somehow I knew you'd say that."

Reaching into his pocket, he pulls out a velvet-covered jewelry box. It's clearly too big to be a ring, but too small to be anything else.

And she makes a squeaking sound and reaches for it with the eagerness of a child grabbing a stick of hard candy. She gently pries open the case and gasps at what she sees inside.

What's inside is a gold locket, not too ornate but with just the right level of bling for Clem's tastes.

"You like it?"

It's beautiful - at least in part because it's from him. He already gave her ritzy in the form of the diamond one he got her last year - this makes a lovely - and subdued - counterpoint to it.

She kisses his cheek. "Fuck yeah. Put it on me?"

He takes it from her to fasten around her neck, sneaking in a quick kiss as he does so.

"Only the best, babe."

Which just encourages her to try to give him a sloppy kiss in return. "Mmmm."

She double-checks to make sure the necklace has properly settled between her girls before leaning back into his chest and opening it, to see if there's anything inside.

He likes sloppy kisses. As long as they're from her.

There's a picture inside the locket of the two of them in one of their more relaxed moments. He thought it would be nice for her to have with her.

Aww. And Madeline took that picture. She'll have to show it to her the next time they're in Miami together.

He gets more kisses for this. And she totally messes up his hair even more, and then takes a moment to stroke his arms. "It's gorgeous."

"Glad you like it."

It does accentuate her... assets rather nicely.

He takes her hands, pulling her toward him again. "Wanna go upstairs so I can give you the rest of your birthday present?"

She lets out a happy, animal moan. "Take me, I'm yours."

She means it too.

"Nope, babydoll... tonight I'm yours."

He playfully lifts her off her feet, dropping another good kiss on her before they go up to their room.

"Better be more than just for tonight." And oop, he's carrying her. She loves it when he carries her. There's another kiss for him, too.
