Fry has lost his spinning top.

He knows the last time he saw it was when he was talking to Monsieur Javert, so he's now searching around that booth with a rather fretful expression.

So far under the sofa he hasn't found his top. But he has found a ball point pen, a rather fluffy boiled sweet, and an interesting coin.

Under one of the sofas, he will find a sleeping cat.

Fry jumps and squeals slightly, surprised.

Mrrrr? the cats says, blinking sleepily at Fry.

"I need my top." Fry says, fretting again.

"Your top of what?" Teja's voice asks, from behind the back of one of the high-backed chairs by the fireplace.

"It is a toy, it spins, it helps me feel better." Fry says, looking up.

"Where did you last see it?" Teja asks.

"Here, when I was with Monsieur Javert."

"He would not have taken it," Teja says. "Did it roll away?"

"I ran away. I got scared. I forgot it."

"You were scared of Javert?" Teja asks.

"No." Fry says. "He had a thing in his hand and he pulled it out."

"A splinter of wood," Teja says. "I saw that. You didn't like the look of the blood?"

Fry nods.

"I don't like to look at it."

"Did you tell Javert that?" Teja asks.

"I ran away."

"And left your spinning top," Teja says. "I see. What does it look like?"

"It is blue and green, and it has a pointy bottom."

"Have you asked the bar, or looked into the lost-and-found?" Teja asks.

"...no. Because I left it here."

"But the rats or loompahs who tidy the place would have picked it up," Teja says. "Things do not stay where they are left, here."

"Oh."

Fry goes over to the bar, who produces his top. He makes a delighted squeal, crouches on the floor and spins it.

"Thank you."

"You are welcome," Teja says. "Do you have just the one top?"

"Yes." Fry says. "The other one is Coral's. It is red."

"Who gave them to you?" Teja asks.

"Library club." Fry says.

"What does that do?"

"Well you're supposed to read books but they let me learn the dewey decimal system and put books back."

"What is the dewy...?"

Teja has, of course, never heard about that.

"It gives books a number by their subject so you can put them in order." Fry says. "Does the library here do that?"

"The shelves are sorted by subject, and by letters," Teja says, "and they have labels on the spine, with numbers and letters."

That is a qualified yes.

"Are they the right numbers by the dewey decimal system?"

"I have no idea," Teja says. "You would have to look."

"Can I go with you?"

"You may, if you wish to," Teja says.

"Because I'm not meant to go through the corridors on my own."

"What is in the corridors?" Teja says.

"Dr Lecter might be there."

"It might be better if you don't go to our library alone, indeed," Teja says.

Dr. Lecter does go there.

"For one thing, it is bigger on the inside."

"That's okay." Fry says. "It won't scare me."

"Very much bigger," Teja says. "Sometimes, it seems there is no end."

"If the books are in order I can just follow the numbers back to zero."

"Then we shall try that," Teja says.
