A scientific experiment of the highest order is in progress. One which includes raspberry fudge, brie and crackers, and several different wines. Autor plans to get tipsy today, and he'll do it in style.

He'll also do it with help. Autor endures light ribbing by Sunshine, who has promised to stay with him and make sure he doesn't do anything foolish while even slightly inebriated--a serious concern of his, especially with a sprained ankle. She's keeping to tea today, just in case.

Autor raises a glass, his cheeks already tingling. He swirls the wine, as he has seen done before. Then he holds it up to his nose and takes a deep breath. "Ah, yes. This clean, buttery wine has a heady bouquet with oak notes, and a spicy aroma of vanilla and currant," he says, and takes a sip. "Sadly, it is broad--it has a full body aroma, but lacks any finesse to its taste."

Rae grins, sipping her tea. "Try harder not to sound like you memorized the book, Autor."

[OOC: Two pups, two muns! All threads will come after Rae and Autor's, when the boy is already tipsy.]

"Rae, you are the best. The best," Autor declares. He scribbles something unintelligible and turns to Jay, pen poised.

"Ooooh. Please tell me, Jay," Autor says. "You can absolutely trust me; I won't tell anyone. I'm so good at keeping secrets. Like how I actually don't know how old I am because I spent over a decade reliving the same day."

Then he wrinkles his nose. "You know what's a terrible battle verb? Undulating. It has two 'u's and is generally a skeevy word."

"He did say that without fonts, he'd be powerless," Rae stage-whispers to Autor. "This may be a feint.... Which is a very good battle noun. For battling."

Rae can't help but play along, grinning.

"Though, if you want a terrible noun of power to go with that battle verb, it would have to be ululation."

Skeevy for all the same reasons.

"There are lots of powerfully skeevy words." Jay grins, dropping his voice low as he leans in. "Licentious, voluptuous." He rolls his voice into a purr. "Satyric."

He's being a terrible tease but he wants to make Autor blush.

It works. "Shiva wept, Jay," the boy whispers, blushing up a storm. "Those words are terrible, and you should be positively ashamed of yourself. Also your voice is doing a funny thing which is making my cheeks warm and you should stop that, too."

He rubs said cheeks, scrubbing them pinker. "And Rae! You would join his side? But he's a cad!"

"It's all the S's and U's. Salacious," she opines, nodding sagely. "Salubrious. Sanguinity."

Jay ruffles Autor's hair, "I know, I'm a terrible cad but it's so much fun."

Autor leans into his touch like a kitten might, smiling. "Yesss, you are, but that's okay. Your cadness is a nice part of you."

Then he favors Rae with a sly look. "Sarcophagus. And sesquipedalianistic," he says, and then he brightens. "Which actually means having the tendency to use big words, isn't that funny?"

"I wouldn't say Jay's a terrible cad," Rae teases as she leans briefly against Jay's shoulder. "He's actually quite good at it. He practices hard."

"Our sesquipedalianistic scholar's discourse sometimes seems sunk in semasiology," she says, smiling smugly.

"Oh I am a very, very talented cad." Jay purrs again, dragging his lips over the lip of the beer bottle in the most suggestive way he knows. "I have worked very, very hard to become so."

Jay chuckles at Rae's tongue twister. "See, I could never trust you two with my battle nouns. You'd only use your powers for evil."

Autor groans at Rae's tongue-twister. "You did that a-word thing! The one where you use all the s's. Sss. You are good. You are very good. Well played, Rae."

Then Jay does the other thing. "Oh!" Autor squeaks. He tugs at his cravat. "Why are you--okay, well, I know why you are doing that, and I have to say that it's, um, working, and you have very nice lips. Quite kissable. Not that I've made a study yet, but I'm pretty sure."

"Interesting inclusion, 'yet,'" Rae snickers at the drunken teen. "It implies intention."

That a-word thing again. Sometimes it's too easy to slip into.

"Jay, you know I would only ever use battle nouns and verbs of power out of the desire to make the world a better place for all scholars, cads, and unicorns. And everyone else, too," she nods, decisively.

Jay shifts in his seat till his tight press against Autor's, leaning in whisper in his ear. "Any time you're ready, my lips are just waiting to be studied. Up close and personal." Sorry Rae, Jay's enjoying this game far too much.

"Oh, God," Autor whispers back, scarlet stripes rushing to his roots and down to his shoulders. "Why is that so hot? I mean, I like the pink one."

He cups Jay's cheeks gently. "This will be my first kiss. That I've ever given, I mean, I've been kissed lots before but never... And, um. I hope it's good for you, too. I'm not very practiced."

After glancing to Rae, as if looking for permission to kiss Jay, the boy brushes his lips against the corner of Jay's mouth, soft and sweet and chaste.

They look at her as though expecting her to stop this. Rae just sips her tea, smiling at them both. Maybe grinning a little. She is here to keep Autor from making dangerous decisions while under the influence, after all. This doesn't come under her purview.

Besides, Autor is very sweet. And Jay isn't cruel.

"A red-letter day, for certain," she smiles at Autor's first kiss.

The kiss is utterly adorable and Jay smiles into it. He cups Autor's cheek, breathing softly against his skin. "Lovely, Autor. The pink one will be very, very lucky to get a kiss like that from you."

He leans in to return it, keeping the kiss soft, sweet and undemanding but much, much more intimate that Autor's.

He can probably feel the heat of Autor's blush under his fingers. The boy's eyes flutter closed. His hands slip to Jay's shoulders as he leans back, seeking contact with a soft moan of approval. He tilts his head, bumping noses with Jay, and smiles against his lips.
