(no subject)

A scientific experiment of the highest order is in progress. One which includes raspberry fudge, brie and crackers, and several different wines. Autor plans to get tipsy today, and he'll do it in style.

He'll also do it with help. Autor endures light ribbing by Sunshine, who has promised to stay with him and make sure he doesn't do anything foolish while even slightly inebriated--a serious concern of his, especially with a sprained ankle. She's keeping to tea today, just in case.

Autor raises a glass, his cheeks already tingling. He swirls the wine, as he has seen done before. Then he holds it up to his nose and takes a deep breath. "Ah, yes. This clean, buttery wine has a heady bouquet with oak notes, and a spicy aroma of vanilla and currant," he says, and takes a sip. "Sadly, it is broad--it has a full body aroma, but lacks any finesse to its taste."

Rae grins, sipping her tea. "Try harder not to sound like you memorized the book, Autor."

[OOC: Two pups, two muns! All threads will come after Rae and Autor's, when the boy is already tipsy.]

Rae rests her hand very lightly, careful, over the sprain. Her hand is warm against his skin.

"With... magic, rather than unicorn powers," she answers, wryly. "I've been studying healing magic for some time now, practicing on myself in the case of cuts or scrapes or bruises."

"Wow."

'Magic' and 'unicorn powers' might as well be the same to Asami, other than that Rae is probably not literally a horned horse.

"Is magic like that common in your world?"

"I'm fine, thank you though, Autor," Rae smiles at him.

"Magic isn't terribly common, but it's not exactly rare, either. Everyone knows about the big magic-handling families, and their kids go to school with everyone else's kids. But the kids from magic-handling families also have their apprenticeships going on, where they kind of learn the basics, the rules of what they can do, and figure out their strengths and what they might do with their lives once they're out of school."

They. Always they, despite that she was also a child of a magic-handler. She still doesn't count herself among them.

"I just came into it late, is all."

"I'll take some, thanks."

She accepts it as she listens to Rae, and then nods.

"So it only runs in families? Bending in my world sometimes works like that, but it's also common for people with non-bending parents to be born with it, too."
