Since the stroke of midnight, Milliways has been haunted.

Terrifyingly, eerily haunted.

The reign of the blanket-ghosts is a fearful one, marked by sudden chills and creaking floorboards and people saying "boo" in French accents. That's probably the scariest thing about it. (Or maybe the apparent bloodstains on the ghostly and noncorporeal sheets, but it's only red wine.)

((Two players, two spooooooky blanket-ghosts (one in blue-ticked flannel, very cozy for cold weather). We're both going to be in and out all weekend--take your pick of ghosts, or try your luck if you don't say who you're looking for!))

Sitting at a table is one very unimpressed Victorian lady.

She looks up from her highly anachronistic cell phone at all the annoying boo-ing going on.

Like they could fool her with those wine stains.

"What."

"Boo!" says a ghost, in confidential tones, wafting through the corner of her table.

[lazy_but_loyal]

She follows the sheet around with a roll of her eyes.

"Seriously?"

[tire_moi_mes_bottes]

"Dead seriously!" The blanket quivers and there's a noise of distant thunder.

He's discovered that he can communicate, if only in terrible spooky puns.

She just arches an eyebrow at the cued thunder.

"You're really into this, aren't you."

[tire_moi_mes_bottes]

"It boosts my spirits!"

A better man would be ashamed.

"...Oh my god, you actually said that aloud."

Shame may well set in later. But not yet. That may be an effect of the costume.

For the moment, though, nothing comes to mind that can be expressed through atrocious word-play, so he rattles some invisible chains again cheerfully.

She sighs. "Are you all right under there? Sounds like you've got a few things loose. Might wanna get that checked."

[street_sparrow]

"Boys." Gavroche is following them around, looking amused and trying to work out which is who. "What are you doing?"

He can tell who they are? Well--all right, Bossuet has to concede that the number of Frenchmen who would end up as blanket-draped ghosts in Milliways is fairly small. (Though larger than in many other places!)

"Boooooooo," he answers, shaking spookily.

And the number who would react to it with such... enthusiasm... is even smaller.

"Having fun with that?"

There's an eldritch giggle.

"Isn't it clear?" Joly asks, fading in and out of view.

[street_sparrow]

"...that laugh is really creepy, you know", he observes with affection. "This is the Halloween effect?"

Joly beams. It makes the lights flicker. He's never been creepy before. It's very satisfying.

"A haunting possibility! It's veerie possible!"

...He really should be ashamed. Maybe it's an effect of the ghost-spell that he's not.

"I'm glad you're having so much fun with it!"

It's making him want to get a sheet and join in.

Be-blanketed ghosts in a multiversal bar, on Terran Halloween. . . .

Sorry, oh terrifying apparitions, but Sariel's going to be fighting a chuckle for a second or two here. It's not mean-spirited--ooh, pun damage! at all. More like amused and bemused. The end result is a smile.
