"Usually they growl. Sometimes they show their teeth - ~Franz, Zahne~."
The dog obligingly demonstrates.

"Or he would growl," Teja says. "It sounds like a deep, long 'grrrrrr'."
He makes sure to not actually growl.
Egil nods.
no subject
"So if they do that, it means they don't like what you're doing and they want you to stop."
Sometimes it might even be 'don't do that, it's not safe', if it's a dog that loves Egil.

Then he gently hugs Franz again, because Franz definitely isn't growling or showing his teeth.
no subject
He most certainly isn't, except that one moment when Gavroche told him to. Gavroche smiles down at them.
"Good boys."
no subject
He reaches down between Franz' paws to touch the rolled-up cat. She looks up and winks at him.
no subject
He laughs.
"I think she might be spending the night there now."

"The best of friends. And if she's sleeping there, he won't get up, so I'm sleeping here with him." He pauses and considers Egil. "Would you like a sleepover with us, if Teja says you can?"
no subject
"I shall stay here, also," Teja says. He pulls up an ottoman, and stretches his long legs. Then, he summons a rat to take a note, and bring a round of hot chocolate.
"My companions must know where we are," he explains.
Whatever shape Loki is in at the moment -- most likely Fina, or his own shape, as there is not much time to be Pyrrha -- he will wish to know where Egil is. And so will Jack.

"Of course", Gavroche says with a nod. "No sense letting them be worried when nothing's wrong."
no subject
no subject
"Exactly." He beckons the little boy. "Come here, Egil, we can make a warm pile with the dogs."
no subject
"Yes?"
no subject
"Would you like that?" He grins. "Here by the fire we don't really need it, but they like it. You can keep very warm in a pile of dogs."

"Very huggy and fluffy", he promises. "Even Jo'll come and join in."

Gavroche wraps his arm around Egil.
"Ready to sleep now?"
no subject
no subject
He glances up and laughs. "Or maybe not quite yet."
At least the hot chocolate milk should send him drowsing.
