The door opens again to Quentin who quickly disguise himself in a magical scent of heather and steel as he curses, "Maeve's tits, your timing is awful."

There are scratches on his cheek and hands, he and Raj were sparring in Goldengreen when Toby and the Duke entered. He had been meaning to get ready to head back to Shadowed Hills, not here. That's why he's grumbling as he heads towards the counter, as long as he's here, he can wash his face.

"Ain't that gospel truth."

To borrow from Uncle Adrian, at least. Tyler glances at Quentin just enough to catch him following his gaze. "No door."

"Oh, for how long?"

He doesn't like being trapped, it would be even worse if he was younger.

"I don't know the exact time...but either way the dice falls, it's still too long." Tyler has to make the ewww face, because it really seems even longer without Uncle Ray around. "Bar tries to keep me busy with language lessons."

"I know French if that might help. Otherwise I don't know if there's anything I know you might want to learn."

"Actually...do you practice sword-fighting at all?" Tyler asks, trying to be innocent about it. Between the way Quentin holds himself and the calluses on the hand from the handshake... Well.

"Why do you ask that?" He hopes he didn't give himself away too much.

"Your hands, and the way you sorta hold yourself up." Tyler's just going to hold out his own for inspection. This is the boy who practices everyday for at least an hour.

Sometimes more, depending on how frustrated he is about something. The floating practice drone only does so much, and people are much more unpredictable.

"Cuz...you stand kinda like Uncle Adrian does when he's not building stuff."

"Oh, I'm learning and good posture is important. Who's your Uncle Adrian?"

Posture and etiquette have been trained into him since very young.

"He's a Marine, and the one who teaches me the really nasty cussing." Tyler beams, before adding. "And sometimes he takes me out fishing or hunting with him."

"He sounds nice. I have an aunt who's a private investigator and she teaches me how to figure some things out. Someone else is teaching me sword fighting, she's awful at it."

"How can you tell she's awful at it?"

"Because she's getting lessons and she's not good and the best swordsman I know says she's not. I mean she can fight just not with a sword."

Tyler's just going to nod, since he really doesn't know either of these people, and just take Quentin's word for it. "I know I'm not that good yet, 's why I keep practicing. Bet she's gonna get better too."

"I hope so because she's really good at finding trouble and needs bigger weapons."

"......" Tyler is just going to give Quentin an eyebrow at that for a moment.

Okay, well, this is escalating into familiar territory. "Is it 'fighting a conspiracy of neo-nazis who stole the Ark' kind of trouble or the 'Oh god it's bigger than my house' kind of trouble?"

Quentin thinks for a moment, "The last one was the closer to the first. I don't want to see the second type."

"Better weapons, cuz bigger weapons just slow you down if you're chasing after jerk-faces who deserve a butt-kicking."

"That she's good on or understanding the weapons she have including allies,"

And soon he'll be Toby's squire and then she'll have to have him around.

Tyler was referring more to aero-dynamics involving with running, but alright. He is just gonna nod with genuine approval because your friends and family can totally be counted on in a fight.

Quentin grins at Tyler,

"That's the risk of being good at solving problems, people keep asking you and then each one is different and sometimes worse."
