At some point, Mirai wanders down to the bar with some notes in hand.

Thank you for your wonderful gifts. I hope you have a pleasant holiday season and continue to think of me as your friend in the coming year.

The letters are a little shaky in the second sentence, as if the words are foreign to her.

I will work hard to be worthy of your friendship.

She almost feels like that's the sort of thing that goes in a resume. Do friendships have resumes? Ah well. She does mean it. Might as well say it.

-Kuriyama Mirai

She gives them to the bar to await their recipients, resting her arm warmer-clad palm on the surface a moment. Then she retreats to the stairs, looking forward to a quiet night in.

Autor stares at the note, shocked. I am worthy enough to know her given name, he thinks, growing giddy. He wonders what he should call her now, wonders if he knows her well enough to start calling her by Mirai. The boy decides against it, realizing she'd probably prefer to continue addressing each other with comfortable formalities.

Next he wonders how to word his response to her note. He taps his quill against his lips, putting it to the parchment, and then bringing it back again. Autor knows what he wants to say, but thinks it's too simple.

Well, when in doubt...

Dear Miss Kuryiama: You are. -A.
