Bonnie was pleased to see that Autor has taken the initiative to do a Q+A with his bartending. But keen not to neglect her duties in keeping things ticking along, tonight she has set up a small campfire near the Forge.

She has also put a sign on the back door.

There are marshmallows, bananas with chocolate in wrapped in foil, and frying pans with sausages.

If you need help with the cooking, Bonnie is around.

Teja is by the fire as well, with a number of sticks and some bread dough, to make campfire bread with whoever wishes so.

"Hm, these look tasty." Bonnie comes over. "They got a name?"

"I am doing as usual in winter," Teja says. "I shall need to find men to help me work the charcoal kilns, soon; otherwise, we are all staying where it is warm. I spent my life in Italy; it was never this cold and dark. This is my eighth winter in this place, and I am still not used to it."

Autor's noshing on a marshmallow--one he finally managed to toast to a golden brown. He waves a hand as he approaches. "Hello, Teja. What are you up to?"

"Making stick-bread," Teja says. "Would you wish some?"

Autor looks over his set up, and blinks. "So you bake it wrapped around the stick? That's interesting. Yes, please, I would like some. Do you mind if I try baking it?"

Teja offers him a stick, and the bowl of bread-dough. "To make it even nicer, you might wish to dip it into this" -- he offers a bowl of herbs in olive oil -- "and then wrap it around the stick."

Autor nods, and eagerly takes the stick. He dips the bread in the bowl, bathing the dough in the olive oil and herbs, and then wraps it around the stick, as instructed. "Now do I cook it like toasting a marshmallow?" he asks, and crouches down near the fire.

"Indeed," Teja says. "You must hold it steady, or might stick it into the ground -- but not too close to the fire, or it would burn before it bakes."

Autor is very interested in setting things on fire. He's never cooked anything over a fire before--much less seen a marshmallow that big--and it takes him a few moments to figure out the whole put-it-on-the-stick-and-try-not-to-burn-it process.

He fails on the first three, turning them to a gooey charcoal mess before they finally fall off the stick. He's working on his fourth now, and he's holding it too far above the fire to actually toast it.

"Here, let me show you." Bonnie says, sticking her marshmallow on a stick and putting it close to a small ember.

"Soon as it catches fire, puff it out, and it's good to eat."

"Oh!" Autor says, and follows suit. He blows too hard, though, and almost unbalances the marshmallow, but manages to get the sugary treat to his mouth before it falls.

"Thank you, Bonnie. Down near the coals, then, and not directly in the fire? Hmm," he says, replacing his marshmallow on the end of his stick with another. "All right. How are you?"

"That's right, you got it." Bonnie nods. "I'm good thanks. It's been quiet here though, I guess the kids got their answers when they came to see you."

Autor blows a puff of air on his second marshmallow. "Not too many kids came to see me, actually. Feuilly and Alex, as I mentioned, and little Rae Seddon--we worked on needlework together--and Enzo, who set a badge. Aside from that it was all adults."

And Hannibal Lecter. But he sees no reason to bring him up, ever, lest Bonnie threaten to chase him off with a broom.

"I need to put a sign up fer the chicken project." she adds. "Once I know how many are likely to hatch."

"The chicken project will be fun," Autor says, nodding. "Let me know when you want help on that coop."

The boy beams. "You're in luck. I've finished something up recently," he says, reaching into his pocket for a white cloth. He unfolds it, and shows her an embroidered, "Red," in scarlet, swirly text, with a wrench below it and nuts scattered around.
