Pam is getting restless.
She and Eric haven't gone back home in a while, but now she's feeling the itch, even if she's not looking forward to what awaits them. A giant pain in the ass, is what.
But she isn't leaving without Eric. When he says it's time to go, then they'll go together. She just hopes he's had enough time to come up with a plan. And it's not like she's been completely idle, she's been wracking her brain trying to think of something, too, but how to kill a 3,000 year old vampire isn't in her field of expertise.
So what else can you do but sit at a table with a laptop and compose a very long and detailed email to your personal shopper in Chicago about overhauling your entire wardrobe.
She's not very botherable and never really has been, ever. But she won't bite your face off. This time. Probably.

"Yeah, that'll work," he says. "And I do like the leather."
He does.

Of course it'll work, and of course he likes the leather.
She smiles and brushes her fingertips over his on her shoulder before returning to the email she was composing.
She doesn't want to ask when they're going back home, even if it's on the very tip of her tongue.

Then he says,"I was thinking we had better head home soon."
He can't hide forever. And he knows that she is getting restless.

"Yeah," she says quietly. "I figured."
She looks up at him, needing to see certainty in his eyes.

"I need to settle the rest of this," he says. Voice calm.
There is a trick to it,. You pick the part you can believe in and then you pretend that the certainty extends beyond that part.

"I know."
She believes him. So she breaks his gaze first.

It's a nice fantasy.
"Maybe Milan?"
Not Paris for obvious reasons. But someplace she'd like.
no subject
"I'd like that," she replies with a faint smile.

He hates going dancing.

"You hate going dancing."
no subject
"I can live with that."
No yes, that is the right order. At least when you are a vampire.
no subject
"But you are a good dancer."
When dancing meant ballgowns and tuxes with tails and an ensemble of classical musicians. Those high society shindigs became much more enjoyable with Eric, because she had someone else in on the joke that these things were terrible and ridiculous. The bonus was that there was always someone attractive to have for dinner.

His gaze runs down the side of her face and comes to rest at the corner of her mouth.
Watching her look at the lit laptop screen.
She will want for nothing. At least he can make sure of that.
