Ellen doesn't normally spend that much time in the Bar in her armor unless she really has to; even in the best armor, you can't scratch an itch. However, when she goes back through the door she's going to have two 'mole people' in tow- or at least, one mole person and one mole people robot- so she's gonna have to do it in attire appropriate to the occasion. Hence, she's wearing her Chinese stealth suit, albeit with the headpiece down so people can recognize her and she can get a drink.

[OOC: Wanted to give her an EP before sending her out to thread a recon mission with Voodoo and D0G. Willing to take other volunteers if they don't mind the lunacy of the Fallout universe and plenty of slowtime. Also willing to just RP- just RP is good!]

"Stealth mission?"

Or so Tavi assumes, given what she's wearing. He had his days and nights in all black before, even if he left them behind more than five years ago.

"Recon of a pre-war factory grounds, so yes," says Ellen, looking up. "Hi, Tavi. How've you been?"

"About the same," he says with a shrug. "It hasn't been long for me, all of a few days really. Things are more organized, at the least."

More organized makes quite a bit of difference, of course, but all the same, it's still barely out of Third Calderon. "You?"

"Well, I met with the Blood Prince, and he seems fairly reasonable for a guy who earned a title like 'blood prince' through fifteen straight annual ice combat tournaments," Ellen says. "We have permission to attempt to scout the grounds of General Atomics. Nothing else until he hears what we found, unless we want further Brotherhood activity to meet with armed resistance."

Tavi smiles wryly. "I'm not surprised he is." Then again, it's not entirely unlike the Canim and the Alerans. Even Tavi has had to use sheer force to assert authority, and he's quite reasonable really! It's a far cry from the first Primus, though.

After a moment's consideration, Tavi nods. "Nor am I surprised by that," he admits. "I'd do no different, I expect."

"I can't blame him either," says Ellen. "Apparently the robots and surviving security system are so tough that trying to get into the grounds is considered a reliable method of suicide. Something has one heck of a guardian force, and you don't generally leave that kind of guardian force standing watch over nothing at all. Even if the War destroyed everything and left the robots following their original instructions, anybody who's had to rule part of the Wasteland would be a fool to pass up a chance at all the robot parts left, whether they were working or not- or even just the robots' power cells. It's going to be interesting, negotiating over whatever we find...."

Tavi smiles faintly and dryly at the 'reliable method of suicide' remark. He's heard that one before; he ignored it. Who needs the word impossible anyway. "Waste not," he agrees with the latter sentiment. "And something has to be there. Hopefully plenty left. Keep me up to date on the negotiations? I'd be interested."

This is actually an unspoken offer of advice; diplomacy and finagling things is a large part of his job description at this point.

"Sure," says Ellen. "I only get so much in the way of radio communication with the Citadel on this trip for security reasons. Whatever advice I can get here is probably safer."

"I'll think of what I can, then," he promises. "Furies know it will be a nice change from the meetings I'll have to start dealing with." So much exasperation in his voice right now.

"Oh dear," says Ellen. "Meetings? How bad?"

You hear things, sometimes. Not so much in the Brotherhood, but from old books and vids. Meetings never mean anything good.

Tavi scowls. "That depends on your definition of 'bad.' It also depends on how much temper it will be useful to show." Pinching his nose, he huffs slightly. "I've managed to keep any meetings purely logistical and military to this point, confined to some of the officers, but a full command meeting was inevitable. Politics will undoubtedly come into play."

And he is painfully aware it will be the beginning of endless headaches.

Ellen wrinkles her nose. "I'm sorry to hear that," she says. "That's just... it's one thing to have to deal with fighting people or fighting creatures or unspeakable ancient diseases or whatever, but when people are just being stubborn about stupid things and you can't do much more than yell at them... ugh."

"Quite." And because Tavi refuses to be uncivilized or wade through a river of blood in a more civilized manner, he can only exert authority of personality and rule of law.

Then again, some of those consequences... "There are... ways of doing more than that, and Aleran law does allow for some amount of enforcement. But they'll still try to meddle."

"People always do," Ellen says. "Can I ask wha you've got planned, or would it be too much background for you to fill in?"

Waving that off, Tavi shrugs, "I have political opposition and they are supremely annoying and, if sometimes clever, incredibly stupid.

"I already issued one declaration of the consequences, including something some of them might consider worse than death." His smile is mildly wolfish. Declaring failure to aid the war effort treason was satisfying.

"Can't say ou didn't warn them, then," says Ellen. "Assuming your entire performance up to this point didn't constitute its own warning."

He laughs shortly. "Yes. I will have to prove a time or two I am not joking and not afraid to enforce the consequences, no doubt, but I can and will."

He may meet with certain kinds of opposition, but for now, this stuff should be doable.

"Good luck," says Ellen. "I have the feeling I should almost be sorry for them, but it sounds like they're kind of bringing it on themselves."

"Some of them are just idiots. I expect they won't get as bad, just enough to warn the less-idiotic that I'm serious." The more malicious or dangerous, of course, will get harsher.

"Let me know how it goes with them," Ellen says. "This could end up being a very practical lesson all around."

Tavi smiles at her. "I will, then." The smile turns slightly wolfish. "I'm quite sure some practicality will be involved."

"Your world doesn't have a means of recording proceedings like that, does it?" Ellen says. "Like holotapes or whatever? It'd almost be worth it to hear after the fact, only I don't think you could get a recording machine in there without somebody noticing."

Certainly not the recorders of her world. They're all freaking huge.

Shaking his head, Tavi sighs. "Unfortunately, no. The Vord Queen had a way," he added with a scowl, "but it isn't one I can duplicate, as far as I know. I can address the Realm at once, but I doubt I could show that."

Yep, Tavi totally will do the FDR fireside chat thing. He's chatty that way.

"Oh well," Ellen says. "I'll have to ask you about it afterwards, then. Hopefully it'll make a good story after the fact."

"Skipping all the more irrelevant details, it might be," Tavi says ruefully. Details like the strategies and orders he'll likely be giving, but without knowing Alera, it seems somewhat unnecessary.

"I'll take your word on that," says Ellen. "Can I get you a drink in the meantime?"

"As long as the next one is on me." He grins. Fair's fair, after all.
