It has not been one of Bonnie's more sensible evenings.

At present she is in a corner of the bar, gingerly applying a bag of ice to her right ankle, which has swollen up rather impressively.

If she finds herself the centre of gossip Monday morning at school, someone is going to find all the wheels removed from their car when it comes to home time.

"Bonnie?" Gavroche asks, frowning. "What have you done to your foot?"

"I may have fallen trying to climb an eight foot fence while drunk." Bonnie admits.

"....I'm not even going to ask." He bends slightly to inspect the damage. "Want me to fix it?"

"Oh yes please, if you can." Bonnie says. "I don't think it's broken but it'd be awkward at school on Monday. Thanks Gavroche."

She shakes her head. "Yeah don't ask, stupidity all round."

"If it's not broken", he says easily, "it'll be no problem at all. Just a bit of speeding things up."

He pushes his sleeve up to lay a careful hand on her ankle.

It isn't broken, just sprained and swollen, with a long narrow bruise where the wire held her dangling upside down.

Bonnie grimaces but holds still, grateful that at least she won't have to hobble.

It won't hurt for long, as he concentrates and mutters the words under his breath, the swelling going down as she watches.

"Thanks Gavroche." Bonnie smiles slightly. "I owe you one."

"Not how it works, I don't take payment. But if the chance arises, sometime, you can count us even then."

If she's set on paying him back.

"Bound to round here." Bonnie nods. "Thanks Gavroche. Can I get you a drink?"

She hails a waitrat to get herself a glass of water, probably had enough alcohol tonight.

"Why not." He grins as he finishes the last of the work. "A milkshake?"

From some people, he pushes his luck and gets booze, but he's not trying that with her.

"Sure, what flavour?"

She'd probably not have asked his exact age if he had tried.

"Chocolate? With sparkles."

Ingress got him into the sparkles years ago.

"You can get sparkles in a milkshake?"

"Oh, sure." He grins. "Just ask Bar, she knows."

"I might have one of those as well... or maybe when I'm fully sober." Bonnie says.

"Yeah, wait until you can appreciate it", he says easily. "There's no rush here."

"Yeah... I'm such an idiot." Bonnie shakes her head. "I maybe need to drink less."

"D'you do it often?" he asks, neither judging nor openly concerned.

Bonnie barks a laugh.

"Been drinkin' since I was fifteen, I drink a whole lot less now than I used to."

"Then maybe you don't need to drink less, most of the time."

"I get drunk maybe once a month." Bonnie admits. "In the week I have a beer a night, couple more at weekends. I like to drink, you know?"

"Nothing wrong with that." He's friends with Grantaire. "Unless people notice."

If they don't, it's not enough to worry about.

"It wouldn't be noticeable if I weren't a girl." Bonnie says.

"Well. That does have to be taken into account."

Girls being smaller as a general rule.
