Tahno's outside on the beach today--shirtless, as is his wont--and moving through his forms. He flows like the water he manipulates, whipping his hand out and watching the stream follow his movements. Tahno turns, rolling into a low crouch before coming up into a series of punches and a round kick, neatly slicing the heads off of three targets made of snow he'd set up before with a blade of ice at the end of the water coating his arm.

Interruptions are most welcome.

Katya has been studying Tahno for a while - both for the appreciation of aesthetics, and because this appears to be a fighting style.

After a while, she decides to see how easy it is to get him to break form. That'd be why she's now standing right behind him, tracing icy fingers down his spine.

Tahno doesn't jump, but that she was not-there in one moment and there the next does take him by surprise. He turns around to face her, carefully moving his arms over their heads in an arc--leaving them available to attack should he need to. The water follows gracefully.

"That's cold, man," Tahno drawls, clearly pleased to see her. "How'd ya sneak up behind me?"

"You're slow." She grins, cheerfully, stretching up for a quick peck. "And I am not."

Tahno brushes his lips against hers briefly, and draws back with a cocky smile. "I ain't that slow," he drawls, and then, after looking for her for permission, he proves it by quickly whipping some water around, aiming for her ribs.

She dives under his arms, taking shelter behind his bulk and running an ice-cold finger along his ear.

"Terribly slow. Glacially." Of course, she's cheating, a little - he's not wearing a shirt, and she can see his muscles shift.

Tahno dances back a little. "Well, what if you can't see me?" he asks, and slams the air above the ground with his palms. The water around him--and some from the lake--explodes into steam.

He punches the air at where he thinks she is, and a two jets stream towards a dark shape in the fog.

Athelstan is watching this display with fascination - from just beyond the limits of the Caribbean inlet, which is why his first question is, "Aren't you cold?" And then he takes a step forward. "Oh. Perhaps not."

"Nope," Tahno drawls easily, curling his hand around his hip. His other keeps up lazy circles in the air, winding the water around his head. "Best part of a beach that just won't quit: unlimited practice. Name's Tahno."

"Athelstan", he answers, and now his focus is on what Tahno's doing with the water, because that is riveting. "How do you do that?"

"Well, fer one, it ain't magic," Tahno drawls, and freezes the tip of his whip-like limb of liquid. He pinches the shape into a dragon with his fingers, and breaks it off with a hand. "It's called bendin', and I'm manipulatin' my chi--energy--to affect the environment."

"I think I have a friend who can do something like that, though she says she's only a beginner. And she can't do that with water as far as I know."

"Oh, yeah? Well, there's earthbenders and firebenders and airbenders, too," Tahno drawls, liquefying his dragon and making it soar through the air. "What does yer friend work with?"

Asajj had heard there was an "outside" here and so has been spending a few hours exploring it when she came across Tahno. His movements remind her of lightsaber forms in a way, but they are rather different, likely do to not focusing on a weapon.

Now she stands, blatant in her regard. Shyness or politeness is for other people and times; she would know this thing.

Tahno is used to being watched, so he quirks a brow at her before going through a few more of his forms. Eventually, he drops his hands, and the water sinks to the ground and freezes there in a number of haphazard spikes, which he picks his way through delicately. "Hey," he greets, curling his hand around his hip. "Name's Tahno. How're you?"

Sonya was taking one of the horses out, riding them by the beach so they could warm up a little while going a little slower.

Seeing the man working the water as he was wasn't a shock to her. She'd seen elementals before, but that didn't mean it wasn't impressive. Sonya kept the horse at an easy walk while she observed. Her own power was..well, she considered herself a novice at best, and she couldn't do much with it besides shooting out energy, but the idea of finding someone who could be a teacher did find itself entering her brain.

Tahno's eyes widen at the horse, and he waves a hand at her. The water follows suit.

"Hey," he drawls, his gaze flicking to the rather large animal. "What is that thing?"

She turned the horse a bit to keep her from getting anxious. "They don't have horses where you're from?"

Hard to say in this place? There could be people who had horses, but didn't refer to them as such. "What was it you were doing-with the ice I mean?"

[hot_water]

"Yeah, we got like, ostrichhorses and stuff, but no actual just horses," Tahno drawls, shaking his head. He curls a hand around his hip, using his free hand to call up a whip of water. With a flick of his wrist, the end splits off into a globe, which hovers over his hand. "This? This is waterbendin'. It ain't magic."

Sonya wondered if the animals in his world were part of some strange experiments, but given this place-such hybrids could've been formed just by evolution. Besides such, Sonya was more interested in the show of power. She couldn't blame him for saying off the bat that it wasn't magic: much as she had no other way to explain it, even Liu was against the idea that his power was magic.

"Is it something anyone could work up to, or is more a case of natural talent?" She was never one for the idea of 'natural talent', but her time in Outworld proved that some people were indeed quicker to learning a power than others.

[hot_water]

"Yer born with it--and there's like, firebenders and earthbenders and airbenders, too--but ya gotta master the forms in order to do anything with it," he drawls, and whips his hand out. A stream of water strikes the ground where he directed it. "People who have the power but don't know how to use it are pretty dangerous."

Late as always, Jay comes back in from his run. Stripped down and sweating, he stops to watch Tahno's work out.

Tahno continues his forms, in complete control of the water as he gracefully moves his powerful arms and legs. He brings up a target made of snow and dances with it, causing it to take potshots at him. Eventually, he dispatches it with a neat slice to the head.

He nods at Jay, curling his hand around his hip. "You look like you could use a dip in the lake, handsome."

Jay grins. "Trying to tell me I need a cold shower? After that display, I just might." He calls teasingly.

Tahno laughs heartily, water droplets exploring the line of his chest. He saunters up to Jay. "Nah, the Caribbean inlet's always warm. I'll even swim with ya. Clearly we can't get into much trouble in the water, right?"

"See, there are flaws in that theory." Jay teases, watching Tahno with obvious enjoyment. " For one, I'd have to strip off or I'd freeze on the way back to the bar. And swimming with a water-bender sounds awfully like trouble in the making." Not that he's backing up, even a step.
