Tavi is happy today.
Heck, there's practically a spring in his step, and while he isn't actually whistling, he might as well be. He had a good evening, one he hadn't originally planned to have. Spontaneity, he has decided, can do him a world of good, and he'll need it before the morning.
That will be unpleasant. And it's only the first of the rest of his life, too.
But for now, things are good, and while dinner was better than most he's had in a while, it's still a little scant. After all, he's barely out of a war.
This is Tavi heading--uncharacteristically--for the couches by the fireplace, and he has spiced cider and a warm blackberry pie. A full pie, not a slice.
He might need help finishing that.

Or for a while, really--not least because Tavi flat out refuses to treat himself any more special than his people.

"Fair enough", he says with a grin. "How are things going at home?"
no subject
While the frequency will start going down with time, it is still just the start.
no subject
"The battles themselves are over, then? Finally?"
no subject
"There will be more. And something like skirmishes." With a sigh, he takes another bite of pie and waves at the chair nearby. "What about you?"
no subject
"Mmf." He sits. "Progress, very very slow progress, at home. I'm thinking of trying to get in to see the Golden."

He debates with himself before walking over with his hot chocolate and sits down, his disguise is down so he has pointed ears and copper streaks in his hair, "What's the occasion?"
no subject
"Just dinner, really," he admits. "And an enjoyable one--but no dessert." More elaborate meals are a whim, one he doesn't indulge in too often (except when attempting courtship of his girlfriend). He's just had a long day.

Not all of them but he bet that Raj would find it funny. Its a nicer thought than everything else that's going on.
no subject
But mostly it's whim.
He waves at the pie. "Have a piece. I really shouldn't be trying to wolf down all of it myself. Work on them how, divert irritability?"
no subject
He looks for a rat to get a fork and a plate.
no subject
He also looks around and, being rather taller and broader than Quentin is slightly more successful at flagging down a rat.

It's not apple pie, but it is unattended somewhat. Which is why the Fool is slowly trying to sneak off with it.
no subject
And he will have as much of it as he bloody well pleases.

So he just turns a page and reaches for one of the slices. He's dealt with far more irritating than this, and will have even worse. No use spending the energy on the Fool's particular brand of rules-lawyering or attempting to push buttons. Tavi has learned enough about how the Fool mocks to know what not to snap at.

He might think he was having Daemon flashbacks.

He's not entirely taking into account that the Bar often sees him at times of extreme stress--like treason trials, apocalyptic wars. The usual.

In fact, it's likely to dissipate the moment he gets back to Alera and goes back to cleaning up the apocalypse. So for now, pie.
