Bonnie comes into the bar, with beer, and a large poster she's been busy making in the back of the shop lab.



So it's a little early, but people got to have time to grow stuff, right?

She then settles down in a booth, with a cider, and a box of bird boxes made by her eighth graders. The first one she picks out is practically a mansion, complete with painted on doors, windows, curtains, even down to the letterbox... sadly the creator has failed to put a hole in it for the birds.

Once the poster is up, Laigle ambles over to have a look--and then stands in front of it, scratching his beard thoughtfully. After a moment he gets out a little memorandum-book and makes a note.

Mandrake: Horticulture--other veg.? Pet? Best alcoholic drink! (french honor may depend on this category) Pet show.

Bonnie gives him a wave.

"You got any questions?"

"Ah...possibly!" He clears his throat. "I have a mandrake."

"What's that, some sorta cauliflower?"

"Possibly! I'm no taxonomist. It's a plant, about so large, possibly infested by lethal demons--but pay no mind to that, the main thing is that it's a companionable sort of vegetation, and I am puzzled as to whether to enter it as a vegetable or a pet."

"Pet." Bonnie says. "If it ain't gonna sit on the table fer a few days."

[tire_moi_mes_bottes]

"Pet, then," he says after a moment of consideration. "Can a person bring only one pet? It seems only fair; but what an agony of choice!"

"So long as you can keep them under control I don't see why you cain't bring as many pets you choose." Bonnie says.

"Excellent." He grins. "I would hate to throw a golden apple between our kittens and tell Joly to choose the prettiest. --Thank you, Madame!"

[is_the_motion]

"Well so long as I get to choose the prettiest, along with any guest judge I recruit later."

[tire_moi_mes_bottes]

"Of course! Of course, Madame. For the appointed judge it's quite different, but if my friend Joly had to choose between his kittens himself--well, he has a tender heart."

He notes down the date as well, and underlines it twice, as if that will make Milliways' time behave itself any better.

Bonnie laughs.

"Perhaps you could enter one each?"
