First Entrance
Djehuty has been contemplating the Door that appeared in his palace for quite some time now. (Since the moon set 29 and a half days ago, to be specific.) It's not every day that something magical shows up that he doesn't immediately understand. And this Door has peculiar qualities, in unutterable dimensions. It takes a lot of contemplation.
Today, he steps through.
Invisibly first, of course. That's plain common sense. But the Door opens onto a Library, a Library of immense power and magic, and it would never do to offend whatever god might dwell here, so he soon takes form and utters a courteous salutation.
Nothing happens. Nothing continues to happen.
So now there is a tall ibis-headed gentleman picking his way through the library stacks, pausing to touch a book now and then, and periodically looking around and hopefully calling, "Hello? Hello-o-o!"
((It's Thoth! Can we say that all threads after the first are happening millitimesily post-introduction-to-the-place?))

Joly doesn't quite drop his armful of books in confusion, not after so many months at Milliways, but resettling them makes for a good chance to collect his wits in the face of...that face. That entirely beaky face. "Are you new to Milliways?"
no subject
The ibis-headed gentleman inclines his beak politely. "I have arrived. For the first time."

Another pause. "...Perhaps you could tell me the name of your master here at Milliways, so I can pay my respects properly?"

But Milliways is a repository of wisdom. Not more than Asgard, in Thor's admittedly biased view, but certainly of different wisdom. And there are pressing problems afflicting Asgard right now, for which other realms' knowledge might be of use. Thor spoke to Heimdall, and to both his parents, and (without revealing certain details) to the chief engineer of the Bifrost repair, to learn more of the precise terminology relevant to their current difficulties with rebuilding the rainbow bridge. Then he spoke to Bar.
Armed with a list of titles and call numbers, he's come to the Library. Which is indeed immense, and humming with quiet power, and not immediately easy to navigate -- but Thor has time.
...And there's a ripple of power just happening over thataway, similar in some ways to a library's spells and guardians, but not the same. Hmmm.

He takes the book with him as he goes looking. It's comforting to have at hand. "Hello?"

"Hello," returns Thor, courteously.
His hammer is hung politely on a coat-hook by the door -- you don't carry weapons into a library without invitation or pressing danger, come on -- and he'd need a lot more threat than a polite guy with a bird head and a book to summon it to him. But that's not too far away; depending on Djehuty's senses, he may note that Mjölnir and Thor have very nearly the same magical resonance, and a connection stretching between them.
"Welcome to Milliways, if you're newly come."

And he can always find praise for some other god's palace, so he says quite truthfully, "This is a place of great wonders."

"You aren't a System Lord," said Daniel dryly.

He then checked his anger at finding an Egyptian god here.
"I'm Daniel Jackson, of Earth," he said, "So, if you aren't a System Lord, or crazy scientist, as he was on our world, you must be the real thing."
He wanted to ask if the being had enslaved any humans lately, but it was way too soon.

"Hello, Thoth," he said with a smile, "I like the suit."

"I am Death," he said, "I believe that I was bound and buried in my world, when your counterpart was popular."
He was very very old, one of the two oldest things in his universe.

Since its such a large space and he feels safe here, he's removed his human disguise and has pointed ears, blond hair with copper streaks and a sense of magic around him. When he turns a corner he almost runs into Thoth and stops before answering, "Hello?"
His best friend turns into a cat so he's used to unusual people but Thoth is a not what he expected in the library.

He looks up from the book in his hands. "Hello. Are you in the service of this library?"
no subject
That he can try to do but he's not sure where to start other than Sallie or Bar.

It truly is the most wondrous place.
He is seated by a table and right now he is looking at an old manuscript. Handling it with all the reverence befitting an old and fragile object. When he looks up, his eyes are deep and ancient.
He knows power when he sees it. But his greeting would be the same regardless.
A smile and a nod.
You do not disturb others seeking knowledge. Unless they show themselves willing to be disturbed.

When Elrond looks up, Djehuty inclines his head politely. "Are you a priest of this library?"
no subject
He talks like someone who loves books. And libraries.
