Cubefall: Day Two

It's been a few minutes since Mairi could get away with visiting Milliway's. If it wasn't one thing, it was another; then the Door vanished for a while. But it's back, and it's Cubefall! She loves changing into new forms, just to feel them for a few seconds, and she loves building with the toys.

She skips into the bar and doesn't even fly a little bit. She's a big girl who doesn't use her powers unless she wants to.

"Ana, Ana, come on!"

Whether or not her cousin comes on, Mairi zips over to the Bar. "Hi, Bar! I'm back! Is Fry doing all right?"

Hardly waiting for an answer, she turns to grin up at her Uncle Enzo. "Hi! I missed you! What have you been doing? How's Aunt Dani? Can I come to the Super Computer?"

"Hey!" Enzo crouches down for a hug, then another as Ana follows up on shorter legs. "Happy Cubefall! I've missed you too; I've been good, and so has Aunt Dani; I've been kicking bitmap and taking filenames, same as always; and I'd be okay with it but you'll have to ask your parents."

Minus beeps in greeting; a napkin flutters off the bartop assuring the girls that all the Sandhu children are well.

Mairi reads the napkin then stuffs it into her pocket. "Minus!"

Huggings for Minus ensue, assuming he puts up with it. Then she turns her full attention on the Bar. When the Vidwindow pops up, she makes an excited sound - it's more modem than squee, unfortunately for non-digitized folks.

There's a cassetticon on offer, but she skips over that to look at the others. There's a SCSI, a magpie, and a large chtinous death-bug.

Mairi looks over the suggestions, quickly discarding the SCSI. Her hand keeps coming back to the magpie, but the death-bug looks tempting...

"Ooh, bug!" says an intrigued Ana, jumping to look over Mairi's shoulder before focusing on her own list.

"You know," says Enzo, desperately trying to work out which of his own choices is best capable of babysitting whatever the two might turn into, "I don't see any hands there. You might want to do playtime first."

[keytyke]

There goes Enzo, being a sensible adult.

"Oh, right." Mairi looks around, then skips over to see Fry when she spots him.

[fry_sandhu]

Fry is under a table, playing with the bricks, in his usual shape.

[keytyke]

"Fry!" Mairi skips over to the table, then settles down on her haunches to look at him. "Hello. How're you doing?"

[fry_sandhu]

"How am I doing what?" Fry asks, putting the blocks in a straight line.

[keytyke]

Mairi pauses. "I don't know. It's a phrase in my greeting protocols. It wants answers relating to one's well-being."

[fry_sandhu]

"Oh!" Fry nods. "Finally, someone explained that properly. I had an ear infection last week again, but it didn't explode. How is your well-being?"

[keytyke]

"My well-being is alphanumeric! I'm processing efficiently and quickly." Mairi edges forward a little to look at Fry's line. Is he making the same pattern as last Cubefall? "Do ear infections usually explode? That seems like a bad upgrade."

[fry_sandhu]

Pretty much. Except this time it's lined up so that it looks nearly the same horizontally as from above.

"Sometimes. I don't tell Dad when my ear hurts because the doctor has to put a pointy thing in it."

[keytyke]

"Like a sword?"

Mairi starts picking out her own blocks and lays a circle off to the side of Fry's design.

[fry_sandhu]

"What are you making?" Fry asks.

"No, it has a hole in it."

[keytyke]

Mairi tries to visualize that and just comes up with a sword with a hole in the upper part below the hilt.

"The Principle Office! It's where Momma works."

[fry_sandhu]

"Is that because she has lots of principles?"

[keytyke]

"I think it was called that before she was COMMAND.COM. But I bet Phong has lots of principles!" He has many things in his drawer.

[fry_sandhu]

Fry has no idea what that means so he carries on arranging his blocks.

"Who's Pong?"

[keytyke]

"Phong, as in file," Mairi corrects. "He was the COMMAND.COM before Mama was. He's nice, but I don't always understand him. But Daddy says he doesn't either."

[fry_sandhu]

"I don't understand what you mean." Fry says.

[a1enzo]

Once the girls have played with the toys to their content, including building a vague approximation of the Supercomputer, their uncle asks, "So, have you decided what you want to be?"

"DRAGON!" declares Ana almost before he's finished the question.

"Not even sure why I bothered to ask."
