Tess is still very much herself. Perhaps this place has taken pity on her for being so new and left her alone. Not that she would be aware of such feelings, but appreciates them nonetheless. The other versions of herself she knows of were not terribly impressive.

For the time being she's seated at the bar, a scotch - neat - close by. A notebook is in front of her and she busies herself jotting down ideas now and then as they come to her.

"Wait. Luthor? Seriously?" She is a lot prettier than old Baldy.

"Serious as a heart attack." Her tone is less than enthusiastic. "I wasn't raised a Luthor, though.

"Must be some story. You gone public with it?" He knows there are secrets people tell in the Bar and nowhere else.

"A long one,too." She nods. "I let it sink in for a few weeks and then I decided it was in the best interest of Luthorcorp for me to come forward."

"Kent or Lane?" Surely she did it in print (or on writing at least online).

[have_no_mercy]

"Neither. I had a guest reporter come in to cover it. I wanted to maintain impartiality."

Knox just nods. "Not many would do that. I am impressed." He likes integrity more than he tends to admit.

Oddly enough, so does Tess. That's why she never does anything half way. "I don't know if it's necessarily impressive, but it is good business."

"Either way, you sell papers. And court controversy. Though it does break the rule about never being the story." Which Kent does all the time, but that is neither here nor there.

"Not even remotely something I planned on, so I say it doesn't count." Plus, rules are made to be broken, right?

He wonders what that means. "Any chance you could bring a copy of that article? Would love to see it." And that way he can pry without prying.

"Sure." it's easier than telling the story herself for the thousandth time. "I'll bring it in next time I find this place."

[gotham_knocking]

"How often do you manage it? I used to all the time but it doesn't seem to happen the way it used to."

[have_no_mercy]

"This is only my second visit, so I'm really not sure how frequent it will be."

[gotham_knocking]

"Well, I hope it works out as well for you as it has me. The place changed my life."

[have_no_mercy]

"Thank you," she replies, standing and gathering her things. "Speaking of, I should be getting back. I have real work I need to do."

Then she adds, "It was nice to meet you, Mr. Knox."

[gotham_knocking]

"Same here, Ms. Mercer." He hopes to see her again, and to see that article.
