Wan is practicing his firebending out back, by the lake, running through what some from his world's future might recognise as a Proto Dragon Dance, and what those not from his world might recognise as something very akin to Northern Shaolin kung fu.
(It's odd, in a way, to think that not that long ago he didn't have this ability at all. In only a short amount of time, it's become a part of him, and he can't imagine his life without it.)
The movements are quick, graceful, and sharp, and each one of them produces a burst of orange-red fire, curled into arcing shapes before dissipating. He's keeping a watchful eye out, though: He doesn't want to accidentally singe anyone.

His horse stops and neighs at all the fire, "Hey, shh, it'll be fine, he's in control."

"Sorry! Don't worry, I can do this another time."

It's the name the spirits give to it, but Wan's city never had any word for what Wan does - they've never needed to.

Tahno also bends social norms, Wan neither thinks nor says (but is nevertheless true).
