Noriko, for the record, has many skills that the average person might not guess by looking at her. Normally, she makes a point to not show them off much in the bar, because it does things to her image that she just really does not appreciate.

Today, however, she cannot manage to give a damn, and so is tucked into the couch in galaxy patterned leggings and a chunky hoodie, with magic loop knitting needles. There's a whole lot of red yarn beside her, and on a tablet a pattern for a sort of hood with cat ears. For now, though she's contemplating the hood and its construction, she's making decent progress on soft boots. Feel free to bother her.

"Winter is coming."

That is Hannibal Lecter saying it, and you'd never know whether that is a cultural reference, or a plain statement

"...I will be very surprised if you know much about Game of Thrones," says Noriko without looking up, as she wants to finish this row before she loses count.

"Also my toes are cold. Hi, Hannibal."

"I do know it exists," Hannibal says. "Hello Noriko. Do you want me to quote Winnie-the-Pooh next, then?"

"Please don't," she says. "I've heard about as much as I can about how Eeyore is clinically depressed."

"I wasn't going to talk about Eeyore," Hannibal says, "or depression, at that."

"Well, then, shoot," she says, finishing her purl row and setting her needles down. "What were you going to talk about?"

"Cold toes."

"Okay," she says, pulling up her legs to the seat. "What about them?"

"The more it snows, tiddly-pom" Hannibal declaims,
"The more it goes, tiddly-pom,
On snowing.
And nobody knows, tiddly-pom,
How cold my toes, tiddly-pom,
are growing."

At that, Noriko just stares at Hannibal for a minute.

"That...is totally not something I ever expected you to recite," she says. "Not that I have the faintest idea who said it. I've never read Winnie the Pooh."

"Winnie the Pooh said it, of course," Hannibal says. "In winter."

Beat.

"Which is coming."

"This is one of the strangest things I've ever experienced," says Nori slowly.

"Tiddly-pom?"

"Shakespeare would have used 'Hey nonny nonny' instead," Hannibal says. "But this is A.A. Milne, and he used tiddly-pom in this instance."

"Yeah, for the record nonny is used most often for me as a shortened form of anonymous," she says.

"In your time," Hannibal says.

"Which is also yours, smartass," she says.

"I am talking about Shakespeare's time, though," Hannibal says.

"I wasn't."

"Then yu strayed off topic."

"The hell I did, we're still talking about language and the evolution of its use," she says. "You're not keeping up, man. I'd make a dig about that being a chronic condition for men, but that seems like kicking you while you're down."

"I'm not down."

"Last I checked, you were in a mental institution. That's about as far down as I can think you'd get."

"Last I checked," Hannibal says, "I was not on death row, but in a place where Will Graham knows to find me."

"Who says death row is the lowest you can get?" she asks.

"It's something I would prefer to avoid," Hannibal says, "and, in fact, managed to."

"That means you're not insane or a moron, but those conditions are not mutually exclusive with being obtuse."

"If there's nothing worse you have to say about me than 'obtuse', I should not worry," Hannibal says.

"Oh, there's a lot worse I could say about you than the fact that you're obtuse, but in all honesty I don't feel like giving an exhaustive list right now. You being smug doesn't matter that much to me."

"I have things to be smug about quite justly," Hannibal says.

"Yes, the crown of Sadistic Fruitloop King is still yours, congrats," she says. "Your mother would be so proud."

"What?"

"Which part are you unclear on?"

"Whatever are you talking about, Noriko? Your youthful jargon is a little too dense for me."

"I'm very sure that you can figure it out using the context clues," she says. "I know you know what sadistic means, as well as king. Fruit loop is slang for being crazy. Loopy."

"I resent that remark," Hannibal says; but he's still smiling.

"I believe the word you're looking for is resemble," says Noriko.

"No," Hannibal says. "That is merely the humorous mistake."

"Whatever you say, dude."

"Yes," Hannibal says. "Exactly."

"So," Noriko says, "What was it you came over here for before you started quoting AA Milne?"

"To say hello?"

She blinks twice, brow lifted.

"Hi?"

"Hello, Noriko," Hannibal says. "Have fun with your knitting."

With that, he nods to her and walks on.
