When Autor steps through the door today, his clothes remain the same: white pants, oversized gray sweater, and glasses. What changes are the ears. Not his, necessarily--those still remain human--but he sprouts fuzzy, gray, and pointed kitten ears on top of his head with a soft, "Oh!" The tail is also new, and telegraphs his body language as the tip curves upward in agitation.

"Really?" he calls up to the ceiling. "Come on!"

Experimentally, he brushes his fingers against one of his fuzzy new appendages--and tears his hand away, blushing. They point in different directions, moving independently of one another to show his ambivalence with the costume.

"Oh, Bar," Autor says, shaking his head. His ears rest flat and back on his head, and his tail points downward, with the tip curving up. "That sounds about right, given that you're a member of the Fae, but I can see how it'd be inconvenient. What's the difference between a wood fairy and a regular one?"

"Wood fairies don't exist in my world, that's only a guess because my tights look like they're meant to be bark or leaves."

Autor stares at him for a moment. "I didn't even notice that you were wearing tights. I thought they were just pants," he says, his ears swiveling about. "What are your wings made of?"

"Metal or plastic, I think. It wouldn't be so bad if it was all the actual materials but this is a costume and its tight. I mean I've worn hose before, but those are mine."

"What?" Autor says, blinking. His ears lay flat on his head. "You've worn hose before? Why?"

"Because court fashions trend towards the more traditional and Fae fashions don't change a lot over the centuries."

"Ah, I see," Autor says, shaking his head. His ears flick as if warding off a fly, and his tail swishes back and forth slowly. "So it's part of your duties as a page? How is that going, by the way?"

"I'm a squire now for Toby and its pretty good. She's moved into a bigger place and I'm living there with her and her sister, May."

"A squire! That's new," Autor says, inclining his head. His ears perk forward and his tail tip twitches. "Congratulations. Are you looking forward to being a knight someday?"

"Not that new, but we haven't talked in a while. Yes, but for now its my job to keep my knight safe."

Autor's tail wraps around his legs. "Good luck keeping Toby safe. Why did she choose you to be her squire?"

"Actually I chose her and then my duke agreed that she would be the best choice to be my knight."

"Congratulations again, then," Autor says, flashing a quick grin. His ears point forward and slightly to the side. "How long have you been her squire? How long will it take you to be a knight?"

"A little over a year and it depends. It might be five years or more or less, its not in my control,"

His hand moves to rest where his sword would normally be and he sighs at the pouch he's wearing. He can pull off a lot of outfits, but this is silly.

"Well, good luck," Autor says, nodding. His ears rest in a relaxed state, as does his tail. "Searching for your sword?"

"Yes, I feel like I should be wearing it but instead I have a bag full of," He opens up the bag and pulls out confetti that's really shiny, "I think its meant to be fairy dust or something."

Autor barks out a laugh. "Oh, that's terrible. Impotent fairy dust, and that which will make a mess if you let it," he says, grinning. His ears flick about, and his tail points straight up. "Well, your costume is better than a dress at least. You're not wearing heels or anything, so you're not at risk to break an ankle."

"I know, I could toss it at people. A dress wouldn't be that bad, it would depend on what it looks like. Heels would be awkward,"

Though it takes a lot for him to fall but he wouldn't want to test it.

"A couple of years ago, Bar put me in a blue dress with lots of tassels, and heels," Autor says, shaking his head. His ears lay flat. "It was pretty awful, but I managed to get through the night without breaking anything. The ears are better than that, thank goodness. Don't toss any fairy dust at me, please, I'll never get it clean. It's like glitter."

"Okay, I won't. You're probably hearing a lot better. Last time I was a Canadian mountie which wasn't that bad."

"Oh, yes," Autor says, grinning. His ears perk up, as does his tail. "I can hear conversations across the room, it's hilarious. It makes it hard to focus on this one, truth be told; I haven't yet learned how to filter out all the noise coming in."

He tilts his head. "A Mountie? What's that?"

"Canadian Royal Mounted Police, it was a bright red uniform with tall boots."

"That must have been fun," Autor says, his ears flicking the air, one after the other. "Did anyone recognize you as a Mountie?"

"Yes, my face was the same, I was just wearing a lot of red. Which conversations are being distracting?"

"Coral is trying to talk to Noriko," Autor says after a moment, his ears pointing to the sides, "and Childermass is speaking to Joly and Bossuet--who are frogs. It's rather interesting."
