Amanda is sitting across the bar with a glass of wine when she see's Guppy sit at the bar. As usual she is happy to see him but there is a knot in her stomach. In one sip she finishes her wine. Takes a deep breath and walks over and takes a seat next to him.

The fact she still feels guilty about the other day is written all over her face.

"Hey Amanda." Guppy leans over and pulls her into a hug.

Amanda returns the hug. Holding on for an extra couple of minutes. "Hi Guppy."

"So what was all that about?" Guppy asks gently, after giving her a minute.

A small sigh, "A bit of boredom." she admits, "Also, it wasn't exactly planned, one thing led to another." she bites her lower lip. "I really didn't mean any harm."

Amanda might specifically not mentioning the Count because well he is what and who he is.

"You scared me half to death Amanda." Guppy says gently. "I'm not judging you, I just don't get why you'd let anyone kill you."

"Well I didn't quite expect him to take it that far, though I probably encouraged him with the role playing." she tries to explain, "It was sort of fun pretending to be in a horror movie." she really likes those sorts of movies (it's even canonical).

"But it was thoughtless. And i am terribly sorry." her original french accent slipping through. "You know I would never want to do anything to frighten or endanger Fry or Coral." unsaid is that she doesn't want to scare him either. She flashes back to the first time she showed him that she was immortal again, she had felt terrible then too.

"I don't need you to be sorry, just safe." Guppy says. "I'm not mad at you, I was concerned. I was mad at your partner though, he was very unreasonable."

Amanda gives him another hug, "Thank you, but still I will try to be better."

A sigh, "Yes, he was quite ... rigid on the matter." Amanda frowns and purses her lips, she was not pleased with how the Count was talking to Guppy. "It's hard to believe that he is a parent."

"Doctor Guppy?" Olivier calls softly, trying not to wake the bundle in his arms.

Guppy looks over.

"Hey Olivier, you okay?" he asks, glancing at the bundle.

"Very well indeed, but for want of some sleep." He smiles. "But there is someone I hoped you might meet." He lowers the bundle to show Guppy the happily napping baby girl. "My daughter, Mary."

"She's beautiful." Guppy says. "Congratulations!"

He peers over and coos appropriately at the little person. Good thing he had that vasectomy, he finds babies much too adorable.

"How are you finding fatherhood?"

"Fatherhood makes up for in wonder what it steals in sleep." He answers with a soft laugh as Mary gurgles happily and makes grabbing motions at Guppy's hands. She has Olivier's unmistakeable amber eyes.

"I wondered if you might look her over? She seems whole and healthy to my eyes but I know from my studies here that medicine has progressed much over time. I would cheat time gladly to be sure of my daughter's well being."

"Sure." Guppy finishes his tea and gets up. "Shall we take her to the infirmary and have a look at her? How old is she now?"

"A day shy of a week. She is to be christened on Sunday." He nods and follows Guppy to the infirmary, Mary cradled against his chest.

Guppy finds a warm cot to put Mary down on so that she can be unwrapped without getting cold.

"Was she born on time? Is she feeding and pooing and weeing well?"

"Doctor Sandhu?" Joly's speech is formal, as always. This may be the Bar to end all bars, and a very casual sort of meeting place, and Doctor Sandhu has never been anything but friendly--but he's still Joly's senior and teaching physician. Four years of medical school habits and formalities haven't left Joly quite yet. "Am I interrupting?"

"Not at all." Guppy says, turning and giving him a smile. "Please call me Guppy. What's up?"

​He will absolutely do that! Someday! For now he just nods and smiles awkwardly. "Well, I was wondering, I had a conversation with Monsieur Javert--do you know him, older man, from the same time I came in from, well, I say same, it's a year later there now. Anyway, he was saying that you wouldn't treat him and I--well, I mean, I don't know what he's thinking, but is there something I should know about his history here?"

As with so many things about Javert, it's baffling.

"I've never said I wouldn't treat Javert." Guppy says. "Why would he even think that?"

Javert doesn't even rank half way up the list of people Guppy would feel nervous about treating. Heck, he even climbed onto a roof to make sure he was okay once!

​Joly shrugs helplessly. "I didn't assume he was right, I was just wondering if you'd ever had any sort of argument or--well, even met, I suppose. He does tend to make judgements about people rather quickly." To say the least. ​

[guppy_sandhu]

"We did." Guppy says. Javert accidentally dislocating his arm was a highlight. "But he argues with everyone, I think he just doesn't like me."

Certainly if Javert is going around telling people Guppy won't treat him, he needs to find him and have a Word.

​ ​Joly laughs a little at that. "​He doesn't like almost anyone, as far as I can tell." Possibly no one? Possibly Marius' father-in-law? "And he seems to think I'm the only one here who will see him, and also possibly that Lecter is on our staff." Joly manages to sound almost neutral about Lecter; he's not , but the man's an abstract problem right now. Any possibility of Lecter being on Infirmary staff was ending just as Joly was finding his feet in the Bar, never mind the Infirmary, but...maybe Javert doesn't know?

"I was wondering if there might be--oh, some sort of odd time overlap, or something, so that he'd missed some events somehow, or had a different experience of them. I know it sounds odd, but, well. I've been a frog. So I'm trying to keep an open mind. " Milliways!

"There could be a time overlap, but I've never banned anyone as a patient, so he's not being truthful." Guppy says. "At worst with a threatening person I've asked for Security to chaperone, and that hasn't applied to him. Is he in there now?"
