Sameth has covered a table with books from various magical worlds, pieces of parchment with Charter Marks glimmering on them alongside sketches of small devices. His conversation with Jim gave him a lot of ideas and he wants to work quickly.
At the moment, he's focusing on detecting different sorts of magic, the books focus on magical theory and have their own inherent magic, that will allow him to create a device to detect it. Since most of Milliways seems to be created by a mixture of magics, it would make sense that the forcefield is along the same lines. He's testing Marks to see which ones react to the books with an arrowhead he enchanted as a Charter base. Nick would be proud, he's being scientific.

'It's ready,' he says without preamble, and starts scanning Sameth's books with his eyes, taking in something new.
'What're you doing?'
He's dressed in jeans and a white shirt today, both of which are very expensive but manage to look scruffy and worn.

He points out the two books and then leans forward to look at the drone and before lifting it up, asks with a gesture.

He says it without glancing up, his attention entirely on the new information.
'Did you get these out of the library here?'

The drone is fairly standard V-Tail design, expensive and made more so by the cameras he's put on three sides. It feels hefty - these are not yet easy to buy in his time, that'll be a few more years, so he's built it along military lines. It's less than a metre long, though; weighty but manageable by one person.
'I can modify it,' he adds, lazily.
'If you need me to. The casing is fibre glass to keep the weight down, but I can change it if you think your magic might need something a bit heavier to work with.'
He'd been all for letting the thing blow up in the forcefield, but if Sameth can keep it safe, then fibre glass will hopefully be fine.

The drone is set down and he hands Jim a sketch of something that looks like a metal comb.

'If you use magic, the cameras won't work?'
No no no no no. Unacceptable.

Cameras are the Thing, Sameth. Even on a drone he is actually going to use to gather atmospheric data. Jim records stuff like other people breath oxygen.
He glances down at the sketch.
'What am I looking at?'

The work itself isn't too difficult as the Charter is sensitive but it will provide a lot of information.

'Nice.'
It's the sort of 'nice' that suggests a lot more happiness under the surface.
'I'll leave it with you, and you can put it on whenever you're ready. Drop it for me at the bar, or come find me and you can watch it fly. I've set it up with my computer, so it's good to go on my end.'
He runs his hand absent-mindedly over the thing, tapping his fingers on the casing like he's playing an imaginary piano.

He drops his fingers away from the thing, surrendering it. It's not like Sameth can fly it without the control centre anyway. He looks restless as he stands up, but pleased with how it's going.
'i have to go back home for a day or two, but unless the door does something weird I won't be gone long. I won't send it up without you.'
Look at him being considerate of what other people want! He awards himself a gold star.

Jim is clearly an engineer of some sort and must have multiple projects going on like Sameth does.

And yes, definitely a multi-tasker.
'Great. I'll see you in a few days, then.'
He grins and wanders off in the direction of the door. He doesn't really want to go home, but he has to make time pass there so he might as well go and deal with some projects.
