"If I get too tired, I'll leave." Bonnie says, shrugging. "But I get up all night peeing anyhow."

Autor considers this. "All right, fair enough," he says. "As long as you're getting enough rest."

[is_the_motion]

"Trust me, gonna be harder dealin' with work than one night stayin' with you even if you do have nightmares." Bonnie reassures him. "I'm gonna be workin' up until the end of the summer semester."

[herr_bookman]

"That will be around the end of your pregnancy, right?" Autor says, furrowing his brow. "Stars and garters. I'm sorry you have to work that long. I hope having the baby isn't too disruptive."

[is_the_motion]

"Well, at least I'm due over the summer." Bonnie says. "It's about the only way I get to keep my job."

[herr_bookman]

"That's stressful," Autor says sympathetically. "At least you'll have the summer to rest and spend with the baby."

[is_the_motion]

"Yeah, though I do want to go back to work after the baby is born. I think I would be bored at home all the time."

[herr_bookman]

"Well, hopefully you'll still have that option," Autor says, with a firm nod. "Home life isn't for everyone. I hope you'll be able to find adequate care for the baby while you're at work."

[is_the_motion]

"Well there are day care facilities." Bonnie says. "And Lucy wants to help, though I wouldn't leave the baby with her all the time."

[herr_bookman]

"Day care facilities? Are they just like they sound?" Autor says, tilting his head. "I forgot about Lucy. She can help, too."

[is_the_motion]

"I guess, they look after babies fer working moms." Bonnie says.

[herr_bookman]

"Huh, interesting," Autor says, shaking his head. "I've never heard of such a thing before. Welcome to the future. Good luck finding one."

[is_the_motion]

"I got one in mind, looks like a good enough place." Bonnie says. "Nice and clean, kids looked content."

[herr_bookman]

"Good," Autor says, lacing his fingers together for lack of a better action to take with them. "How old will the baby be when you put her in this day care facility?"

"Somewhere between six and eight weeks." Bonnie says quietly. "Unless I can negotiate with work."

[herr_bookman]

"That seems young," Autor says, furrowing his brow again. "I hope you're able to negotiate with work. Babies should spend time with their mothers."

"They were gonna fire me." Bonnie says. "If I hadn't got married. But I'm hopin' they might be more supportive when baby arrives."

[herr_bookman]

"Good luck," Autor says, shaking his head. "I wouldn't hold my breath on that. If they were going to fire you for being an unwed mother, I can't imagine they'll open their arms for the baby."

"I got a backup plan." Bonnie says. "Lucy takes my classes, I stay with the baby."

[herr_bookman]

"I hope your work will go for it," Autor says, frowning. He's shocked at how easy anger bubbles up from beneath, even if it's anger on someone else's behalf. "They might not, and then you'd be stuck."

"I can quit." Bonnie says. "But Turtle's salary would be tight with seven people to feed."

[herr_bookman]

"No kidding," Autor says, setting his jaw. "It'll all work out somehow. You'll find a way to make it work."

"We will. I'm not on my own, it's okay."

[herr_bookman]

"Good," Autor says, nodding thoughtfully. "Good. It's not good for you to be on your own. I'm glad you have Lucy and Turtle and the kids with you."
