It's been almost a week, for Anakin, since he's found a Milliways door. This is frustrating. It's not certain corners, it's not his bedroom's doorway, it's not wishing while going through any of these... It does, in fact, appear to be a totally random occurrence.

This is not satisfactory.

Frowning, he hops up on a bar stool and orders a glass of blue fizz.

(There has to be a pattern to Milliways entrances. There has to be...)

"Do you have to stand up when your teacher comes in the room?" Fry asks him, appearing abruptly next to him.

Anakin blinks while sipping his drink. He carefully avoids choking.

"No," he replies, shifting sideways to look at Fry. "Well, sometimes we're already standing -- sometimes we have classes in the jungle, most beings don't like sitting in mud. But not usually, no."

"Oh. In that case the game I heard won't work." Fry says.

"Game?" Another confused blink. "What game?"

"There is a game. The last one to stand up is the Donkey."

"Oh ... what's a donkey?"

"It's like a short horse and it goes eeeeh oooor."

Anakin opens his mouth, then closes it. Never mind, he can guess what a horse (and, therefore, a donkey) is by context. Some sort of animal you don't want to be called. Like a nerf, maybe.

"Um, is it a fun game? We don't play a lot of games at all during class," he admits.

Jedi study is super serious.

"I don't know. We didn't play it yet, and I'm not very good at games. But I read it in a book that said that every class has played it to our new teacher for sixty years."

"Oh, it's a tradition? My school's not really old enough to have traditions, or books about it. It's only ten years old."

Anakin sips his fizz thoughtfully. "How can you know who's last to stand up? Unless you're in the back row. Or there are mirrors..."

"There's two big tables and everyone sits round them like at dinner." Fry says. "So you can see each other. But we decided it's going to be the last person to start standing up, otherwise it'll always be Bradley because he's in a wheelchair and he can stand up but it takes longer."

"Oh!" Anakin nods in understanding. Like smaller group lessons, not lectures in the Great Hall.

"That's fairer -- you can't have the same person lose every time, especially not just because they can't help it. When does the timing start? When the door starts opening, or when the teacher starts entering, or when they're fully at their desk...?"

Anakin REALLY likes rules in games.

"When the door opens." Fry says.

He also really likes rules.

"Is there an assigned, um, watcher? Someone who doesn't take part, to make it fairer?"

Anakin never watched smashball games with his dad; he probably means the word 'referee'.
