You will find Ava in one of two spots today:

1) Outdoors by the lake in shorts and a tank top, practicing how to fall and land without hurting herself.

2) Back at the main desk in the library. Even the non-literary will be able to find her there, as she's opted to advertise with a sign on the notice board.

Dr. Hannibal Lecter walks into the library, smiles at Ava, and drops the two bundles of small red radishes he was carrying.

"So, what should I read?"

"Hey." She smiles back, with a flicker of interest for the radishes. "What are you in the mood for?"

"Something that is both current and fun," Hannibal says. "That I can read on the beach."

[hadyougoing]

"Beach reading," Ava considers. She quirks another, smaller smile. "I don't know about current, but let me think ..."

A tilt of her head.

"How do you feel about de Sade?"

[cook_the_rude]

"Read him," Dr. Lecter says. "And he's hardly contemporary."

[hadyougoing]

"He's somebody's contemporary," Ava points out.

[cook_the_rude]

"You are right," Lecter says, "but not mine."

[hadyougoing]

"What year are you in again?" she says, peering--as if maybe she's going to see Hannibal's current year embroidered on a pocket square.

"2016, by now," Hannibal says.

Moist doesn't like hot weather all the time but sometimes its perfect. As he's between jobs, he's heading towards the beach in surprising elegant shorts, a light button down short sleeved shirt, light shoes and a panama hat.

When he spots Ava, he stops to watch her fall before clapping, "That one didn't look too painful."

Ava whirls around from her prone spot on the ground, some of her hair ending up in her mouth. Through the hair, she thinks she can make out a panama hat.

"Thanks," she breathes--a little sarcasm laced in there.

"Are you practicing for something?"

There's a slight clatter as he sets up a wooden folding chair, it even includes a drink holder and sits down. She did find a place with a nice view of the lake.

Ava pushes her hair back from her face, sitting cross-legged and arching her eyebrows at the sight of the drink holder.

"Nothing special," she says. "You weren't planning on watching, were you?"

"No, I have a book to read and its a lovely view,"

Its a travel guide to riverboats, one of those that's full of what to watch out for, there's a slightly old fashioned look about it.

Ava's lips quirk.

"Well, uh, cool."

For the moment, though, she doesn't get back up.

"I'm Alfred,"

He leans down to offer her his hand with a smile, its a fairly honest one, she's pretty, the day's nice and he's not working.

"Ava," she says, shaking, and smiles back. This guy seems vaguely familiar? Which probably just means she's seen him before, but recent Jim-related events make her wary.

"Nice to meet you, Alfred. Did Bar give you the chair?"

"Good," X says, sitting on top of a rock somewhere in the middle of Ava's practice.

"You are getting better."

And then, belatedly --

"Hello."

[hadyougoing]

Ava looks up with a start.

"X!"

Duh.

"Uh--good to know."

X shrugs, one shouldered and quick.

"I think so."

Beat.

"You are okay?"

[hadyougoing]

"Yeah."

She stretches vaguely. Vaguely, because she doesn't actually remember how to do stretches: she always spaced out during that part of ballet class, and she only even took ballet for like two months anyway.

"I'm a little sore, but it's not too bad." She squints. "Or did you mean in general?"

X considers this for a moment. Then --

"Yes. That, too."

[hadyougoing]

"Well ..."

Ava huffs a breath.

"I ran into Mike, and he seemed--you know, the usual. But it seemed like he'll help train me."

"You are surprised?"

X tilts her head very slightly, studying Ava.

"By that."

[hadyougoing]

"Sure," she replies, and her lips quirk. "I'm not exactly nice to him."

At least she's self-aware?
