Dr. Hannibal Lecter is sitting by the fireplace, reading something on his iPad with great fascination,

He looks as if he was already wondering on how to make those dishes. Or that is what you might think, if you did catch a glimpse over his shoulder.

Young Rae Seddon comes over to the fireplace couch with a milkshake (deep purple-blue, with sparkles and a loopy straw), a small sewing kit, and her Scout hoodie. She has new badges to sew on!

"Evening, Dr. Lecter!" she greets the fascinated gastronomer, smiling at him.

"Ho good to see you, Rae!" Dr. Lecter says, turning his head to smile at her. "You gained new experiences?"

"My jalapenos won first prize in the vegetables competition at the fair!" she grins, showing him her gold star badge. It's going to be added to the hoodie beside her gold star (of slightly different design) from the previous year. "The bell peppers came third, which is okay, and the handkerchief I embroidered got second place in the craftwork competition."

"My congratulations!" Dr. Lecter says. "What did you do with the jalapenos after their victory?"

"Thank you! I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do with them, after, so Bar has been keeping them safe and fresh for me," she replies, her smile turning a bit sheepish. "There's so much I'd like to try with them. I thought maybe some of them could go into salsa, or maybe into a creamy sauce for enchiladas, and Charlie has a recipe for stuffing jalapenos with cheese and then frying them..."

"I like that idea," Dr. Lecter says. "How many jalapenos do you have, all in all?"

"Twelve total," she says, grinning. "Though the jalapeno plants have new blooms on them, again, so that might be 'twelve so far.'"

"Then you could use four for each of those three ideas," Dr. Lecter says.

"And I can maybe use fewer peppers in one recipe if one of the others call for more... I'll have to see what the recipes need," she nods.

"How've you been, by the way?" Rae asks, realizing she hadn't asked yet. "I've not seen you in a while."

"Not since the Milliways fair," Dr. Lecter says.

"But you've been doing okay since then?" she asks. Too many of her friends aren't doing well for her to assume.

"Exceedingly so," Dr. Lecter says. "This place provides so many interesting people and experiences."

"Good," Rae smiles. "Were you here for Cubefall?"

"I was," Dr. Lecter says. "I was being female at that point."

The girl grins. "Turning into a boy was one of my options, too, but I didn't want to try that."

Boys are icky - no offense, Dr. Lecter.

"I was a bat for Cubefall - me'n'Autor went flying together, which was a lot of fun. Some people're afraid of bats, but they're really cute. Even the really big ones."

"You were," Dr. Lecter says.

Rae blinks at him. "I met you, while I was a bat?"

He wasn't the young man by the beach, or the great green plant person...

"You were the lady who brought me melon?"

"Exactly!" Dr. Lecter says. "You made a very nice little bat."

"It was a lot of fun being a bat," she grins. "And you were really nice to bring me melon. It was really delicious! Everything tasted and smelled so much more strongly when I was a bat, and flying was amazing."

Rae would've been frightened to be up so high, as a human girl, but as a bat, flying up high in the air is only natural.

"Do you still miss flying?"

Rae tilts her head as she thinks on this, a faint smile on her face.

"A little? I had a lot of fun, and would like to try it again, but I'm glad to be me again, too."

She likes being able to talk, walk, and have opposable thumbs.

"So you can bake again!"

The girl laughs. "So I can walk and talk and bake again."

"That was one of the weirdest things - not being able to talk. I could tell anyone who I was, and with Cubefall on, I couldn't know who I met, either. I met a man with blond hair lying on the beach towel out by the inlet. He was nice, and gave me fruit, too. And I met a plant-man, but he wasn't very scary. And Autor was such a pretty bird, with bright blue wings."

"He was young and rather handsome, with long blond hair?" Dr. Lecter asks.

Rae nods, smiling. "Yes, do you know him? He gave me strawberries."

"It was Sinric," Hannibal says. "Have you met him?"

"I don't think so. I hadn't seen anyone who looked like him, before," she replies. "But I hope I see him again and get the chance to thank him for the strawberries."

"He's a medieval courtier, musician, and traveller," Hannibal says. "I hope you get to meet him."
