If the strange plant-face of the Swamp Thing can look worried, than today it looks worried. And with reason. Alec cannot find Abby Arcane, former lover and current Avatar of the Rot. Which, as far as he is concerned, is impossible. As an Avatar, he has both resources and connections to the "supernatural" world. And yet...she is gone.

He stares out the observation window. The demise of the universe, even if it sort of reminds him of the Rot, is oddly calming.

Demeter's tired, Kore's left and her wanderings are full of people hurting. When she comes into Milliways, she spots Alec and comes over to him, "What's wrong?"

Well, at least one person can read his face. Or body language.

"Someone dear to me has gone missing."

"Oh no, what happened?" She comes close enough to offer a hug if he wants it though there's a storm in her voice.

"That, Demeter, is a very good question. She simply vanished. Which should not be possible given her responsibilities." He doesn't really hug now. But he appreciates the gesture.

"What in your world has the power to harm her or you?" They must be dangerous.

"We have one enemy. A man - someone who was once a man, long ago - named Anton Arcane. Her uncle. The previous avatar of the Rot, and the definition of evil. In the reality that was, thankfully, not to be, he brought the world under his darkness. He hates the both of us." And yet... "But he seems to be uninvolved.

"So far."

"Is there anyone else who can sense what's going on?"

"So far, no. I've been calling in favors from all over. There are a fairly large number of supernaturally connected heroes and allies. But they can't find any sign of here.

"Which leaves one option I don't care for."

"What's that?" She knows how those can go.

"A man named John Constantine. A man who I loathe to ask favors of." A sentiment shared by possibly everyone on Earth, and even in Hell itself.

"Ah, that bad. Could I perhaps help?" She doesn't know how their worlds line up, but they do have connections.

"I suspect your counterpart in my reality would not take kindly to your arrival. I've heard whispers about the gods." Or more things Constantine said about Wonder Woman, things that sound true even if the man saying them lies. "Can you sense things outside the bar from here?"

"That would cause a problem. I learned that I can't go to a world with another Demeter. I haven't tried, usually I can learn enough from in here about a person and their world to not need to reach beyond."

"You do know that there is a Green here that essentially cuts me off from that of my Earth?" A calmer one than he's used to.

"No, I didn't know that but I'm not terribly surprised. There's a lot of power here."

"Does it affect you?"

"Not a great deal but I think I might have sensed it before," She comes to Milliways to relax and so rarely pushes against what's here.

"And do you ever sense the Green at home?"

"I think not in the same way you do."

"Sometimes in my nazel gazing moments, I wonder if the gods feel it." Not, he knows, that he has a navel.

"I feel life and where its waiting and held down and can see how to help it. I don't know if that's the same as your Green."

"No, since that would also mean you connect with the Red and the Gray and the other forces of nature the avatars represent."

"No, I don't. I can tell you which of my relatives covers which area and when I'm on the edge of one of theirs."

"Ah.

"I have to admit, I really don't remember all the myth I learned in school. And I suspect a lot of it is wrong." As if you can trust storytellers to tell truth instead of myth.

"Myths tend to simplify us."
