{ooc: set after Jay and Eric take a run in the woods. Warnings for sex, blood, and them just generally doing stupid things for fun.}
Jay comes bouncing up from the garage, hair still wet from the shower. He looks energised and far too enthusiastic for the late hour.
He's not actually on bar duty but he is behind the bar playing with various liquids.
Could be a cocktail, could be a chemistry experiment. Feel free to ask but be warned, some concoctions may be flammable.

"What're you up to?"

Not this one, perhaps. Seeing it's now burning with an impressive green flame.

He watches the flame, impressed.
"Yeah, I really could. And a new work desk... what theory?"

"I usually go for cheap ones because something happens to them every few months, but maybe if they were sturdier, it wouldn't. Alcohol fuels?"

"I'm on holiday in Cambodia. Thought I might be able to rig up a still to help the locals run their bikes without having to pay a fortune for fuel."

Tools, yes. Work surfaces that get incinerated or smashed and are just work surfaces, not so much.
"So you'd want it to still work more or less like gas, and not rocket fuel?"

"Dealer's choice." He grins ruefully. "And - experimental magic. I've got this spell where a lighter flame turns into a tracker, and I want to get it to do more than one stream. It didn't quite go to plan and I kind of immolated my desk."
no subject
"You know I can build you a tracker that won't ignite things? No immolating magic required."
no subject
"Ah, but when it finds its target, the fire is half the point. Tracker isn't the best word, more like... a smart missile." He takes a sip of the scotch. "Vampires usually travel in packs in my world and if I'm on my own, anything to thin out their numbers."

In Jonathan's eyes, killing unsouled vampires isn't murder. It's putting them to rest.
"Technology could only really do that with little flamethrowers, I think, and I'm not sure how it could guide flames."

She hesitates, then blurts out.
"I fell off the wagon later in the night."
