Dirk Gently stumbles through the door and lands on his face.

He turns over, stares at the ceiling a moment--Hm, rafters--and then quickly sits up.

He counts off on his fingers: "Not apartment. Not client's house. Not jail."

Sounds good to him! He jumps to his feet to explore this new place.



[ooc: Dirk has mild psychic ability. If there's something he should sense about your character, please let me know.]

There is a man dressed in a brown tunic and pants entering through the back door. He's got a wooden staff with him and a golden harp.

Oh! A musician! Dirk would never be so rude as to pluck his harp, but it does get a fascinated inspection from afar.

Oh he's more than a musician, Dirk might pick up on that. He's the chief bard and essentially religious leader and advisor to his king.

...Dirk is good but not that good.

He does like the harp, though! It's pretty.

"Can I help you?" He asks with a smile and a nod.

[whereineedtobe]

Dirk's face screws up in thought a moment.

He says seriously, "What do you know about sofas?"

"What are sofas?" Asks Tegid. He is from a version if Iron Age Briton, that much is apparent from his clothing.

A slender blonde comes over, about to offer a hand up when Dirk leaps to his feet. "Are you alright?" Sinric ask, offering a steadying hand if Dirk needs it.


{ooc: Dirk may get a sense of there being something a bit magical about Sinric. And a touch of gold in his eyes.}

Dirk takes his hand and shakes it heartily. "Hello! Yes, I'm all right. My feet got in the way for a moment but it's all sorted now."

Sinric's hand is delicate and warm, as is his smile. "Feet can often be like that." Says the very graceful blonde who moves like a dancer. "Is this your first time here?"

"Yes! They can! And it is, is that obvious? I'm new to a lot of places and it always seems like people can tell.

"My name is Dirk. Dirk Gently."

[thewidewideworld]

"This place tends to take people by surprise." He smiles warmly, offering Dirk a bow. "I am Sinric. Welcome to Milliways."

{ooc: sorry for the slowtime. I've been travelling but I'm back now.}

"Thank you!

"I'd ask what's a Milliways but it's not hard to figure out, is it--it's where a million roads meet. Am I right?"

Sinric laughs warmly. "I'd never thought of how this place must have taken it's name but now you say it, it seems so clear. That it is, a crossroads of worlds and times. A haven of sorts."

{ooc: thanks! Had a ball but very glad to be home.}

A black armored soldier, with red eyes while he walks through the door and watches Dirk.

[whereineedtobe]

The... robot? gets an inspection as well. Dirk waves his hand in front of the red eyes.

"Are you merely decorative?" he murmurs. "Odd decoration for a pub."

[helghasten]

[The "robot" moves from place revealing himself as a growl appears from the strange man]

"Do I look like a decoration?!"

The man growled under his breath.

"...yes? In film people keep suits of armor in odd corners."

There is a fishtank by the fireplace, which doesn't contain fish. It contains actual, living trilobites.

And near that tank, on a sofa, is a gentleman drinking tea and eating small cupcakes decorated with yellow roses made from icing.

He gives Dirk Gently a polite smile.

The man gets a big grin in return.

"Is there a special occasion today or are you just fond of cupcakes? I'm fond of cupcakes. The first time I had one I thought I'd never want to eat plate-cake again."

[cook_the_rude]

"Have one if you like," the gentleman says, smiling at Dirk and offering the plate. "I just made them today, as a proof of concept."

[whereineedtobe]

"Thank you!" He takes one and eats the yellow flower first.

"I can say," he says after a few bites, "that they do indeed prove that cupcakes are delicious, if that's the concept you were going for."

[cook_the_rude]

"One of them," the gentleman says, slightly tilting his head as if in amusement.

[whereineedtobe]

"What's the other? I had no idea there could be multiple concepts applied to cupcakes."

[cook_the_rude]

"Taste," the gentleman says. "Texture. Presentation, too. Cupcakes should be tasty, smooth, and pretty."
