[cook_the_rude]

• Dr. Hannibal Lecter is sitting at the piano drinking delicate sencha from a Japanese teacup that had once been shattered and was repaired in kintsukuroi. As befits the beverage, he is playing a rather abstract and slightly jazzy piece by Sakamoto Ryûichi.

 

• Teja is sitting by the fireplace with three of his four cats, Myrrh presumably being on Bodhi duty. He is drinking tea made from a number of Mediterranean herbs, rosemary and lavender foremost among them, and is browsing through children's books as he as choosing some for little Egil.

 

• Father Pearse Harman is at a table near the bar, enjoying buttered scones with his proper strong English tea. He is reading a book called "Cryptozoology of the Americas", and chuckling as he does so.

 

• Lady Margolotta is in a dark corner well away from the windows, knitting something green while on her lap, one of the waitrats is sleeping. It has a bandage on its paw where it presumably injured itself in the course of its duty. Inwardly, Margolotta is deploring the odd Earth habit of daylight saving time, which is keeping her from being more social.

"Finding the book amusing, Father?" Michael asks as he pauses in passing.

(Sasquatches are real in the Dresdenverse, though that isn't the name they prefer.)

"A bit," Harman admits. "Can I offer you some tea and a scone?"

Pause.

"In my world, we could explain half of those with 'vampires did it', and some of us do."

[onceholyknight]

"Yes, please." Since he's been invited to share the food, he sits down. "Vampires can explain sightings of wildly different creatures?"

[witchfinder_general]

"Well, probably not the sasquatch and bigfoot style creatures," Harman says, "but both chupacabras and wendigos have been explained that way."

Pause.

"Unfortunately, once your disbelief has been suspended in one point you thought crucial, nothing is impossible any more. Which is probably why we take such pains to apply scientific methods to our Code Fives."

He pours some tea, and gets Michael a plate for his scones.

He nods his thanks for the scones and tea.

"They all exist in my world. Well, perhaps not chupacabras, and wendigos are cases of possession. And sasquatches and Bigfoot prefer to be called the Forest People."

There's a vampire in the Bar.
In blue jeans and a long sleeved t.

He is looking around the room as if trying to figure out whether there are anybody around he knows.

Father Harman doesn't seem to fall into that category.

"What are you doing up?" Father Harman asks, eying him. "They started daylight saving today, you know."

Eric blinks at him.

"Oh," he says. "Well, it's the sun that matters so it doesn't mean anything. I think."

There is almost a question mark at the end of that sentence.

The change is hard to miss.

"You don't know for certain?" Harman asks. "What happened to you, Eric? Have you been sick?"

"We know each other?"

He sounds almost eager.

Elias comes downstairs, slight surprised to be followed by a little black cat who seems to have adopted him.

He spots Dr Lecter and smiles, broader still when he hears the doctor playing. "Mind if I listen while I grab something to eat?" He runs his stomach. "I don't know if it's the desire for comfort food talking but it feels like I haven't eaten in weeks."

"Hello, Elias," Dr. Lecter says, turning to him with a smile without stopping the music, "if I may? Do go ahead and take the edge off, but I would love to make you some real food later."

"That is an offer I would not even consider refusing." Elias smiles, ordering a bowl of a creamy chicken soup. "This should at least tame the growling for a little bit. Honestly, I don't think I've ever had flu that's left me feeling this old."

"You will get back to yourself soon enough, I am sure," Hannibal says, leaning back for some quit notes before attacking the piano again with gusto and passion.

"Who is your friend?"

"No idea." He shrugs, reaching down to stroke Myrrh's ears. "But I woke up to find her curled up next to me. I suppose she belongs to the hotel, and comes and goes as she pleases."

Ganymede sits by the piano with only a rustle of fabric shifting, holding a glass mug of something cream-colored that smells like spiced coffee. He pushes the half of his hair that's unbraided, the other half twined with glimmering golden ribbon, over his shoulder to listen. In a pair of tight jeans and a crisp dress shirt he looks very nicely close to the part of a contributing member of society.

He appreciates the music.

"Hello, Ganymede," Hannibal says, still playing. "You look pretty today."

[the_cupbearer]

"Ah, school trip," he says. "Gyda got herself detention, and the request was that I come up to speak with the parents of the child whose nose she broke."

He sighs, and sips his coffee. "I doubt they expected what they got."

[cook_the_rude]

"Why on earth would she do that?" Hannibal asks. "She seems so meek and cheerful most of the time, even though she is a formerly dead Viking child."

[the_cupbearer]

Ganymede just laughs. "Cheerful, certainly. But meek? Never," he says.

"Apparently one of the girls was spreading rumors about my preferences for men, and Gyda took quite a lot of offense to it. It's a Jesuit school." He shrugs; to him this explains quite a lot. "She stayed an hour after classes, and the other girl will give her an apology."

"Back to yourself, I see," Autor says as he approaches Dr. Lecter at the piano. The boy has the sniffles again, and hacks up phlegm into a handkerchief. "Was that Bodhi that you were with? As Galen?"

[cook_the_rude]

"Yes," Hannibal says. "You were right, young friend. I am honestly very sorry for Bodhi's plight and would apologize deeply, but for the fact rnar he is currently being one Elias Rahim, FBI psychologist working with their victim support program."

[herr_bookman]

"I may be young, but I'm not your friend," Autor says, coughing into his handkerchief. "So he got hit by the identity flu, too, huh? Figures that you would give it to him. I hope he doesn't try to hurt himself after he comes to."

[cook_the_rude]

"So do I," Hannibal says, "and I am working to fortify him for that, bolster what is left of his resilience. Luckily, Elias is very helpful for this."

[herr_bookman]

Autor sneezes and sniffles. "Helpful in what way?"
