Somepony's Back In Town!

And then, out of the blue, a cacophony of sound greets any patron who happens to be in the general area of the Everfree Forest exit to Milliways.


That sound happens to be coming from a certain pink pony, who had once been tragically locked out of the bar for months. She even missed the chance to celebrate her birthday here! But with spring in the air and in her step, she's all but bouncing her way back to the bar, loudly singing a certain ditty.


"Woo hoo!" she shouts, scampering over to the bulletin board before heading into the bar proper. "Sure is great to see ya, Milliways!"


When she finds a note, her eyes widen in delight. For the next hour you can find her in the kitchen - and if you can't hear her you can certainly smell the aroma of something delicious baking away in the oven.


A couple of hours later, Pinkie's chilling out at a table at the center of the bar, with a glass of lemonade and a bunch of disposable bowls piled high with strawberry shortcake lined up before her with plastic spoons at the ready. A bright pink sign lettered in white is taped to the front of her table - Taste testing! Take one! it reads. She hopes she'll get some interest.


You can't prepare to run a stall selling the best sweets ever without a little bit of practice!


[OOC: Catch Pinkie in the forest or outside, inside before she finds the flier for the fair, while she's in the kitchen baking or when she's at a table with her delicious creation! "Are these really free?" a great, big bear of a man says, beaming at the pink pony and her assortment of treats. "Hi. I'm Baze Malbus."

"They so are!" Pinkie says. "Go ahead and take one!My name's Pinkie! You have a super cool name, Baze!"

She offers him a hoof to shake, which she's figured out is the human way of greeting a new person, replacing the familiar clomp of a hoof hitting a hoof.

Baze laughs, and gladly--but gently--accepts the little hoof, shaking it just like he would a human hand. "Why, thank you! You have a rather appropriate name yourself!" he says, cheerfully taking one of the strawberry shortcake dishes and spoons. He starts cramming the treat into his mouth. "Mmm, this is delicious. Did you make it yourself?"

"I've always thought so!" she replies happily, and she's quite gleeful that the strawberry shortcake actually tastes good. "I sure did! Back home I work in the best bakery in all of Equestria!"

Baze beams at her, halfway through his treat. "I've never heard of Equestria. What's it like?"

"SO Cool! We have mountains and castles and just about anything you can think of!" She leans against the table. "What's your world like?"

"Castles? Oh, wow," Baze says, settling his armored bulk into a chair at her table. "My world was a desert with a permanent winter. We had space travel, like so many others don't. There were thousands of pilgrims that used to come visit the Temple of the Kyber."

"Totally awesome castles! My friend has a keen one, and our Princesses share one!" She listens to his description with interest. "Only one season?!" The idea is a little stunning to her but she acquits herself quickly. "Why don't they go anymore?

"You have Princesses?" Baze says, grinning. "And there were seasons on Jedha. There was 'cold,' 'very cold,' and 'biting cold.'"

His grin fades at her question. "The temple was sealed. And then... It was destroyed."

"That just means more time for hot cocoa!" Says Pinkie, and then winces. "Oh. I'm super, super sorry!" But, on the subject of the Princesses, quickly adds, "Their names are Luna and Celestia and they're totally wise and cool and one of them gets really really loud when they talk but they're totally awesome!"

Baze returns to his former cheer, letting out a belly laugh. "You're right about the hot cocoa thing, though we didn't have much chocolate or sugar on our moon. Everything had to be imported. I didn't have hot chocolate until I came here."

The Princesses' description gets an amused snort. "Really loud when she talks? I don't know anyone like that."

This is a dirty, filthy lie, and Baze is obvious about it. Baze himself gets loud when he talks.

"SUPER loud, but it just makes her easier to find!" Pinkie says. And she gasps. "Life without sugar?! That is not. Allowed."

"Not allowed?" Baze says,.amusement coloring his features. "Why, of course it is! Our moon was a cold, desert moon, where nothing grew except a few trees and grasses too stubborn to grow anywhere else! We couldn't make sugar, so we had to fly it in from other planets. It wasn't like the situation is here, where you can get everything you want. Supplies were low."

"But, but..." the very IDEA that anyone should have to suffer thusly seems inhumane to Pinkie, so she just sputters for a little while, absolutely indignant. "YOU GET A DOUBLE PORTION!" she declares, as if she's making up for all of the sugar he's missed out on.

Baze laughs. "Why, thank you," he says, polishing off his existing strawberry shortcake. "I appreciate that. I could probably eat a.double portion."

"You can have one if you like!" She's happy to give more!

[iprotectyou]

"Aww, you're so sweet! Thank you," Baze says. He finishes his current strawberry shortcake and takes a second bowl, digging in.

She watches him eagerly for a reaction; she's not vain about her skills but oh does she like to know she's appreciated.

"This is amazing!" Baze says enthusiastically, chowing down on the strawberry shortcake.

"You're a really good cook! Who taught you?"

"My granny Pie taught me!" Pinkie admits, "but the Cakes have been SUPER cool and have taught me how to make a bunch of new things!"

Baze grins.

"You learned how to cook from someone named Cake? That's hilarious."

Pinkie giggles. "It really is, isn't it? And my last name is Pie!"

Baze laughs, hard, an uncomplicated affair, full of joy.

"Oh, that's so funny! Well, thank you so much for the... What was it? Strawberry shortcake?"

"Yep!!! Strawberry shortcake! Though I guess the way I made it it's kind of strawberry longcake."

There will be Leftovers after the fair.

Baze polishes off his current treat.

"What made you want to make strawberry shortcake?"

"WELL!" Pinkie says grandly, "I'm practicing for the fair, and we had a lot of strawberries at home, and nothing feels more like summer than a SUPER big helping of strawberry shortcake!"

"Very good!" Baze says, clearly pleased to have been included in this declaration of summer.

"Well, thank you for treating me with your delectable strawberry shortcake. I'd never had strawberries before I came here, and they're absolutely delicious."

"Oh sure! ANY time!" Pinkie grins. She's gonna make sure he gets all of the strawberries from here on out!

Fixit was about to fetch food from the bar when she smells sugary food.

Oh, it is the pink hornless unicorn! She hovers over Pinky Pie's table of treats for a bit but then asks, "Oh, no donut milkshakes this time?"

Pinkie giggles. "Nope! I'm doing something super special! And not helping Miss Bar out this time."
