After the massive explosion the other day, Teja is outside to investigate. Something serious has blown up in the woods; it reminds Teja of what Bodhi had been telling of the star-killer machine of his world.

The charring and destruction feels as if a small one of those had been tested here, but whatever for?

Nearby, there is the sound of heavy footsteps going through the bushes.

Vyvyan doesn't go to the site itself, even though the trees have given him a good inkling about what it is - no way is he going to let on, because he'd probably be a suspect - but he is coming back from the mountains with a large box of rocks.

"Who goes there?" Teja calls, as the sound is just too obvious to ignore.

[vyvyan]

"Me!" Vyvyan says, not stopping.

[ostro_goth]

"Have you seen any of what happened?" Teja asks, walking along as well.

Perhaps Vyvyan is easier to bear if one need not see him. The sound is not so off-putting.

[vyvyan]

"I didn't do it." Vyvyan says, holding his box of rocks. "I smashed these off with my head."

[ostro_goth]

"Of course you did not cause the explosion," Teja says. "It must have been some gruesome machine."

He doesn't ask about the rocks.

[vyvyan]

"Yeah, a machine." Vyvyan says.

"It wasn't my machine."

[ostro_goth]

"No, it wasn't," Teja says. "It sounds like the planet-killer machine Bodhi spoke of, only a small version of it."

[vyvyan]

"Well you'd have to be pretty bloody stupid to blow up a planet while you were on it." Vyvyan says.

[ostro_goth]

"They're in the sky above it," Teja says.

Then, he looks up at the canopy of trees, peering at the sky, in case there is something up there.

[vyvyan]

"What, in the exploding universe?"

[ostro_goth]

"No, in that universe where this man came from," Teja says. "But who says none would bring such a machine here, if it exits?"

[vyvyan]

"Again, you'd have to be bloody stupid." Vyvyan says, continuing away from the crime scene with his box of rocks.

[runningred]

Jay comes up on one of his bikes, following the noise. A couple of the drones follow, floating above him. "What the fuck? Who's been playing out here?"

[ostro_goth]

"Greetings, Jay!" Teja says. "I know not -- it must have been some great machine of explosive destruction."

[runningred]

Jay kneels down to have a look at the shape of the burn patterns. "I'm not sure it was that big. C4 maybe... I can test for residue."

[ostro_goth]

"I would be very grateful," Teja says. "It was mysterious, and I would not have a thing like that happen even in the woods, on my watch!"

[runningred]

Jay heads over to the crater and starts taking samples, pulling evidence bags from his jacket pockets. Old habits die hard.

"Shouldn't take me more than an hour or two. If the bar will lend me the equipment."

"And what is it that you can find out about this incident?" Teja asks.

[runningred]

"What sort of explosive was used. How big the yield was. Can't promise I can find who made it but it'll at least give us a clue as to who had the skills to make it."

[ostro_goth]

"What world, and what time?" Teja asks. "Would you see that, too?"

[runningred]

"Maybe, but no necessary. After all. I use tech from a bunch of different times and places. We'd know more if we can find any parts rather than just residue."

[ostro_goth]

"The part that made the explosion go off?" Teja guesses.

[runningred]

"The detonator, yeah." Jay nods. "That would help a lot."

[ostro_goth]

"Do we need to take pictures?" Teja suggests, remembering the way Guppy had do e it when he himself had been the victim.
