Yamato and Gabumon both look exhausted (and, perhaps, a little more somber than they usually do) as they enter today, with Gabumon looking like he might fall asleep at any moment, and Yamato, while a little more awake, pressing an ice pack to a compression-bandaged hand.

(Jyou had insisted, although luckily the bruising wasn't too bad, and he didn't think Yukidarumon had broken any bones.)

They settle at the Bar, and Yamato nabs a laptop from her, opening it and typing -- well, as furiously as one can with one hand.

Cassian's getting a refill on his caf when he sees them and sits down, "What happened to you?"

Gabumon looks sweeter than he expected in his normal shape and Cassian's in his captain's jacket with his blaster at his side. He's also due for his pain medicine soon but he's putting that off.

"Aggressive hand-holding," Yamato says, quickly.

This is, to be fair, basically true.

Without looking up: "A friend was dying. He wasn't in his right mind at the time, but we wanted to stick with him until he went."

He nods, he knows how difficult that can be, "That was good of you."

"Not that good, we were the ones who killed him," Yamato says, plugging his digivice into the laptop and waiting for the two to work in concert for the surprisingly banal task of getting an interdimensional internet connection back to his world.

He looks up as it's doing that, giving Cassian a once over.

"Are you okay?" He's not Jyou, so he can't instantly diagnose Cassian as being wounded on sight, but he can see that something's off.

"Then it was even kinder. What happened to him?" Cassian sits down, finding a comfortable position as he gets his caf, he hasn't often done that type of painful killing, but its always a possibility.

"Healing from something but the worst is past."

"Infected with a disease that made him go berserk. Him and a bunch of other old friends attacked at the same time."

Well. Old friends and Bakemon, who was probably just there to fill out the numbers.

"Got hurt in your world?"

"Kriff, that's awful. Yes, a neighbor of a friend I was visiting decided he didn't like my face and I didn't get away fast enough,"

He's never faced that kind of infection but he can imagine how horrible it could be.

Wryly: "How unneighbourly of him. What happened to him after?"

"I don't know. I didn't stay around to see but worked on getting myself away,"

Probably he'll be taken care of which is how it should be.

"Probably a good idea. Better than bleeding out while waiting to see the outcome, at least," Yamato says. "And I hear the doctors here are good."

"There wasn't going to be much of an outcome and I would only be in the way. They do, yes as are those on my side of the door,"

No one was going to call in a patrol, it was important to keep everything quiet.

"Does this happen a lot in your world? It'd be pretty big news in mine, but," he waves a hand, "my world -- my Earth, at least -- is definitely one of the less dangerous worlds around."

"It depends on where you are, some systems are more dangerous than others. This building's not the safest, but it works for my friend,"

That building is one that tries to keep out from the Empire's eye.

"Makes sense."

Yamato presses a few keys, bringing up some news reports and -- yeeep, there's already panic-mongering over giant monster attacks, with blurry may-as-well-have-been-taken-by-an-amateur footage of a bunch of different Digimon.

He makes a slightly irritable noise, rubbing the back of his neck.

Cassian leans forward to get a better look, "Were you involved with that?"

"Yeah. The media's already having a field day with it, too, but at least they didn't seem to catch any of our faces or figure out we weren't just bystanders."

"Has that happened before?" He knows how dangerous having your face seen can be.

"Not really? There's probably loads of people who've seen us, but nobody's ever actually made the connection to us," Yamato says. "But right now, people are worked up into a fervor. If someone did recognise us, it'd be a problem."

"That's good. Can you hide long enough for everything to be safer?"

"I guess we'll find out. I suppose the Bureau'll probably be doing their best to keep our identities secret, and my Dad can still exert some control over the media."

"The Bureau and your father's involved in the media? Those are both good allies to have,"

That kind of power changes what's possible.

"The Bureau's a -- I guess government agency? We didn't know about them until recently, but they've been monitoring the Infection and incursions from the Digital World, and Gennai trusts them, apparently."

Yamato trusts Gennai's judgement! Mostly.

"Yeah, he's editor for a news network. To be honest, a lot of our parents work with whatever connections they have to keep us a secret."

"Trust is important. I hope they live up to it. Its good that they can do that,"

He's known many parents who aren't able to protect their children.

"Gennai's judgement isn't usually wrong," Yamato says. "Even if I am kind of automatically suspicious of a big, shadowy government agency."

"That's the right response. Better to worry too much than too little."
