Life has been busy. The Mist (aka Turns-Into-Gas-Guy) is settling into his new cell underneath S.T.A.R. Labs and the team is sort of kind of (not really) getting used to the idea of working above a metahuman prison.
Joe is home, which is a big relief, and Barry has managed to steer clear of what's going on between him, Iris and Eddie.
And Barry himself has recovered from all events around the new meta-villain and is now taking some time to chill for a bit.
His thoughts have been on his parents a lot lately, especially his mom, and it's led him to seek out some comfort things. Slouched in one of the comfy chairs by the fire, with his legs up on an ottoman, he's watching a movie on his tablet with a pair of earbuds in.
A rat has brought by a bowl of mac & cheese, which he's eating distractedly as he watches the movie.
On screen is 'Singin' in the Rain', and not only does Barry's smile convey that he's enjoying the flick, but it is also very possible there are moments when Barry can be caught humming along to the music and songs.
[ooc:Open through the weekend. :) ETA: open until it scrolls, because work is madness and distractions are nice. XD]

When he comes in, he sees Barry and then comes behind him to see what he's watching. Its a very bright looking holovid.
no subject
He smiles when he sees Cassian and pulls out the earbuds.
"Hey, Cassian, how's it going?"
no subject
He moves around to find a place to sit, stretching and setting down his bag.

"This? Oh, it's an old movie," he says, just a touch embarrassed. "It's a uh, musical actually. Singin' in the Rain."
no subject
no subject
"Kind of, although in musicals there are spoken scenes and dialogue, so the whole thing isn't sung."
Passing off the empty bowl to a passing wait rat, Barry orders a Coke.
"Do you like operas?"

"It's been a little while since I've watched this one, so I thought I'd take a break and sit down with it."
He doesn't mind putting that off, though, and so he locks the screen on the tablet and tucks it away.
"You look a little sore there, you alright?"

The rat returns with Barry's soda and an added plate of brownies which Barry accepts with a smile and thanks.
"How's it going on the X-wing?" he asks, lifting a brownie from the plate to take a big bite.
no subject
It helped the next few days of travel go a little faster.
no subject
Barry has been tempted to bring the suit in sometime and see about cutting loose with the speed himself.
"Brownie?" he offers, holding out the plate after taking another.
no subject
He takes a brownie and smiles at the taste, its sweet and filling.

"How fast can one of those go?" he asks about the speeder.
no subject
Speeder bikes are fast but also easy to crash.
no subject
"For real?" That's something that could actually keep pace with him, if he dialed his speed back a little. "Can you go that fast on one?"
no subject
He'd rather be in a ship as its safer but that kind of speed is a rush.
no subject
Even so protection would only do so much.
"That's pretty cool. Only very specialized vehicles on my world can go that fast on land."
no subject
When you're above the ground, there's more to hit and to chase you.

"I think I was first allowed to use a throttle with supervision when I was thirteen or fourteen. Then I had to prove I was able to fly on my own, that took longer. I knew I wanted to fly when my father and I had to leave home."
no subject
His expression shifts to hesitant curiosity on his second question, "Why'd you have to leave?"
no subject
His father was a Separatist, trying to make their corner of the galaxy better, "There wasn't anything left for us there after the Clone Wars."
no subject
"I'm sorry."
It's a reminder that Cassian's world isn't just spaceships and speeders.
no subject
"The Clone Wars did a lot of damage and the Empire does more. I wanted to fly because flying was a way to get someplace safe."
