Childermass walks in, not displeased to see the place.

His appearance is much the same as usual except that when his coat swings aside, there's a wand in his belt.

His face is sober, perhaps even a touch sympathetic.

"How old was she?"

[galen_erso]

"Twenty-two," Galen says. "She died stealing the plans from the Empire so the rebellion could destroy the weapon."

[manofbusiness]

"But did you not say you arranged for those plans to get to the rebels?"

[galen_erso]

"Yes," Galen says, "but she was the only one if them who had the courage to act on my message."

[manofbusiness]

"You sent a message that did not include the plans themselves?"

[galen_erso]

"I didn't have access to the file," Galen says. "It was kept in the Imperial Archives on Scarif."

[manofbusiness]

"Ah." He nods. "And description alone of its weaknesses would not be enough."

[galen_erso]

"They needed the schematics to know where exactly to hit."

[manofbusiness]

"And so your daughter finished what you began."

[galen_erso]

"She did," Galen says, voice rather dull.

So much happened, and it's only now really sinking in.

Childermass nudges the pot of caf back in his direction.

[galen_erso]

Galen pours, and then drinks.

"Thank you."

[manofbusiness]

"Seemed you might need it."

And sometimes, in practical ways, he helps.

[galen_erso]

"I do," Galen says. "My world blew up and came back down in a completely different shape. I'm still processing."

He takes another sip of caf.

[manofbusiness]

"What will you do, now your Empire has fallen?"

[galen_erso]

"Help build the new republic, in whatever capacity they need me," Galen says.

[manofbusiness]

He nods. "There may well be destruction to be undone. Those parts that can be."

[galen_erso]

"And new things started," Galen says. "Just the right time to pioneer some energy projects."

[manofbusiness]

"Do you think they'll have you?"

Coerced enemies are still enemies.

[galen_erso]

"They already do," Galen says. "And I have an excellent character witness speaking for me."

[manofbusiness]

"Always helps", he observes dryly. "One of their own?"

[galen_erso]

"General," Galen says, "and my pilot who got the message out, originally. He rescued me."

[manofbusiness]

Childermass doesn't miss the his pilot, but lets it slide.

"How did you meet him?"

[galen_erso]

"He used to be a cargo pilot assigned to the secret research facility where I worked," Galen says.

[manofbusiness]

"Security seems to have been lax, for a secret research facility."
