It's a restless night in Tokyo. They've done literally everything they can about their current predicament, and their best hope of solving it has been constantly asleep for weeks now - if she doesn't stay up and functioning soon, there could be some real trouble. Yusuke's used to waiting things out - it was often the only choice he had, when dealing with Madarame - but now, he's finding it leaves a bad taste in his mouth, when he's taken to more active means of addressing things.
And so when Milliways presents itself, he takes the opportunity. If he can pass time without worrying about waking anyone else in the dorm, so much the better.
It's not long before he's settled into an armchair with a good view on the observation window. Of course he's drawing it. Why wouldn't you draw it? It's beautiful.

After fetching a glass of red wine from the Bar, he finds an armchair of his own to settle in, curling up and drawing a knee to his chest. His seat is not that far from the young man sketching the view through the observation window.
Emcee watches him over the rim of his glass. The artist is as beautiful as the art he creates.

In any case, he's absorbed in his work, so it'll be a while before he realises he has company.

Emcee sees the beauty, all kinds of beauty, in everything, including people. Perhaps especially people. And an artist at work is very attractive indeed.
He's content to watch him in fascination, and to watch with almost equal fascination as the drawing blooms and expands across the paper.

He works quickly, obviously a very practiced hand at this, focused on one blooming supernova at a time - it increases the chance of catching everything, even though he knows that would take multiple attempts to truly pin down. Good thing that view's not going anywhere, huh.

It's a dynamic image, both outside the window, and what's captured on the page. And though the view is on an endless loop, there's always something new to catch if you watch closely enough.
Emcee doesn't want to break the young man's concentration, but he has been drawing for quite a while, so his hand must eventually rest. So he quietly summons a waitrat to bring the lad whatever his preferred drink is (the Bar should know).

When the rat arrives, it's still a good ten minutes before the scent of tea - and tuna onigiri, because the thing about sentient furniture is it overhears discussions of one's unfortunate eating habits - manages to break Yusuke's concentration. "What... oh. Thank you, though I don't recall ordering anything..."
Not that he's complaining. It's been a long time since lunch.

Emcee is also in the Unfortunate Eating Habits Club.

"You hardly had to contribute anything, but thank you regardless."

"You're quite welcome. Far be it from me to allow an artist to go without refreshment for too long. The creative process is thirsty work. Are you a student?"

He takes a break, crossing past the artist as he does. "How very beautiful!" He nods to the drawings.

Guess who was too caught up in his work to really process the background noise and is only vaguely aware someone addressed him.

And really, he wouldn't pick anything but the difficult subjects.

If one goes simply off his work, there's no sign of a 'slump' in quality anywhere.

But he's not about to give up.

His voice is tight as the Window for him is the nightmares of his childhood.

He forces himself to look at the Window and back at the drawing but can't easily see what the artist does.

Perhaps the certainty that the destruction - for that is an element at play here, no question - will stay outside and not actually affect him any time soon gives him an advantage in this examination.

Which hasn't always been easy not with how the Empire strikes against their enemies.

Its a way of looking at the world that he's never fully understood, to have time to simply admire it has never been part of his life.

Or is he just imagining things?
