After the party, Cassian felt restless and went back on base to get some mending to do. It has to be done and its the kind of chore that he can do and look over data. He's set himself up at a table to repair a shirt and the sleeve of one of his jackets, his stitches are neat, not pretty but they don't need to be.

Also on the table is a datapad and he's reading through records, mainly histories as he's trying to fill in the holes and know questions to ask his archivist connection. Later he watches an older holovid he found in the library that he remembers from when he was younger, the conversation with Jay about James Bond reminded him of it. There's a brave young man who pulls himself up from obscurity with brave piloting and lots of luck, in the episode that Cassian's watching, he's trying to be smart at a party with senators and the girl he likes. He did like the martini but ended up ordering a caf with some whiskey in it.

Eden approaches from above, as usual, although this time he's not so much leaping between the rafters as he is swinging from them, until he eventually comes to a stop next to Cassian, dangling by one arm.

"What'cha watching? Is it fun? Does it involve explosions?"

He looks up when he hears movement and watches Eden,

"Its called Poli's Journey and I don't think in this episode."

"Who's Poli?" Eden asks, dropping down next to Cassian. "Where are they journeying to? Why're they going there?"

Cassian puts down his sewing and points at the young man adjusting his collar in the holovid,

"That's Poli, he's the main character. He's going towards a better life, which in this means Coruscant and possibly marrying a senator's daughter."

[arkadia]

"A specific senator's daughter, or just whichever one he finds first? And what's a senator? And why is Coruscant better?"

"I don't remember. I haven't watched this in a long time. A senator when the Republic existed helped to run the galaxy. Coruscant is where the Senate is and its the capital of the Empire and was the capital of the Republic, everything happens there."

[arkadia]

"How can you not remember? These are key pieces of information," Eden says, a little sullenly. "Okay, so they're like queens and kings. Or Foretellers. Or the Emperor. Got it."

"Close enough. I didn't watch it very often,"

There was always something to do when he was growing up and time to just watch didn't happen that much.

"Why not? Was it just not that interesting?"

[childofrebellion]

"No, there wasn't a lot of time and there was only ever one copy to pass around,"

And while he enjoyed it, he didn't feel the need to watch it as much as some of the others.

"Now you have loads of time, though! And many copies."

[childofrebellion]

"Yes, which is why I'm watching it. The whole series is in the library here,"

He doesn't know how much he'll watch but its a nice distraction and a bittersweet idea of a galaxy he never knew.

"Right, right. What's happening in it right now?"

Ibani removes her helmet, then spits out some sand that has, somehow, gotten past the filter.

She hates Tattooine already. Cassian is a welcome distraction!

"Hello, Cassian!"

The sound of armor gets his attention and he glances up from the holovid where Poli is striving to find the words to speak to a senator,

"Hello, you look like you need a drink." He moves his mending so she has more space to sit and looks for a rat.

"That would be lovely, thank you," she says, smiling.

She eases into the seat, careful not to disturb the mending. She peers at the holovid. "Do Republic senators actually dress like that?"

"Some do when they're from rich systems. Now though the important people wear Imperial white or grey,"

He bites off a thread and ties a knot tighter than he needs to as a rat comes over.

"Ah, I suppose they would," Ibani replies. "Those in power always dictate fashion."

"Would never be white clothing, in my Empire. Gray, yes, that's the color of the Imperial uniform, and every Imperial citizen is military unless they're Sith or physically or mentally incapable of serving."

She gestures toward her armor. "Sith tend to wear black and red, or sometimes gray also."

"Sapir for me, please," she tells the rat. "Would you like anything, Cassian?"

"Everyone? The Empire would like to manage that but even they can't. White's not common but its there,"

Cassian reaches out to check his caf which has gone cold and orders another one.

"Everyone," Ibani agrees. "Has been that way for, oh, must be at a few hundred years now."

"Your Empire doesn't have a culture of its own, only what it's stolen. And we were alone in space for centuries before we discovered the Republic still existed."

"I'm glad your Empire can't manage that, damn glad."

[childofrebellion]

"How was the Republic discovered? So am I and I'll do all I can to stop them from doing it,"

The galaxy needs people who don't know war intimately, but those who can remember and create peace and hope.

[last_kallig]

"The histories say they discovered us, that a Jedi from the Republic came looking for the Emperor. The Emperor killed him, but then of course we knew that they were still out there."

"Given that our ancestors had fled the Republic in order to survive centuries before, the reaction was fear and anger, not joy."

"Good. If there's any way I can help, please let me know. I haven't found any technology that might be useful for you yet, but I'm keeping an eye out."

"History's never simple. Thank you, I'm getting ready for a mission to do some damage and gather more intel,"

Many in the Rebellion once fought against the Republic and now fight against the Empire, its something no one ever talks about.

"It never is," Ibani agrees.

"Anything I could help with on this mission? I can cloak another person besides myself with the Force, if you need to get someone in somewhere."

[childofrebellion]

"I think I should be fine. I'll have Kay with me and we're not hitting a largely guarded target,"

On the datapad he shuts off the holovid and pulls up the plan to sabotage an Imperial rations factory on a planet on the edge of the Outer and Mid-Rim and turns it towards her.
