Happy 100, Enzo!

Enzo will, of course, be officially celebrating his coming-of-age in Mainframe with his family. Rather than have a huge party in Milliways, he is therefore having two smaller ones, before and after.

Gotta pace himself, after all.

Afternoon

As a farewell to childhood, the before-party is deliberately childish. There would be cake regardless, of course, but the decor is distinctly heavy on the streamers and balloons, and there are paper squeakers, goodie bags, and classic games like Pin the Key on the Dongle. Enzo is somewhat giddy with anticipation and sugar.

"Happy Birthday." Fry says.

His siblings are around there, somewhere, dashing around, though Gil is the only one currently nearby. Gil comes over to give Enzo a hug.

"Thanks, Fry! Hey, Gil!" Enzo crouches down for the hug. "How's it going?"

"I don't like my new class." Fry says.

"I found bloon!" Gil says, hugging Enzo tight.

Fry presents Enzo with the present from all of them. It's a big, traditional style photograph album with a note from Guppy, who is around somewhere chasing the smaller children.

To Enzo,
We wanted to get you something special for coming of age, and we thought you might like a physical album for when you get married, in case datapads don't translate from one world to another.
If it's no use let us know and we'll get you something more useful!

"Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. There are lots of balloons, aren't there, Gil?" he says, multi-threading as best he can.

"Oh, thanks! This'll definitely be useful." Digital albums translate fine, but they don't come out especially elegant-looking.

Ibani's not sure what to make of the paper streamers or the balloons as she wanders into the area.

Ibani knows that birthday parties are a thing that exists, but she's never been to one.

A large, cheerful, and green young man waves at her. "Hi! Welcome to the party! Have some cake!"

There is plenty of cake.

"Uh-huh! Enzo Matrix." He offers a hand.

Evening

"Three digits, baby!" Enzo hollers as he steps through the door.

Bar immediately manifests a Thoroughly Adult party setup: floral centrepieces, classy hors d'ouvres, wine glasses, and a selection of smoking jackets to wear. There may even be cognac.

Enzo walks steadily enough on his way to the party area, though he does bump against a couple of tables. Careful and supervised experimentation with adult beverages, whoooo!

Autor approaches Enzo cautiously, afraid he might tip over. "Hello, Enzo. Happy Birthday," Autor says, presenting him with a digital bottle of wine reading 100.

Enzo's motor skills are, as yet, unimpaired! His attentiveness to where he's walking, on the other hand, is a bit below optimal, and his volume control could perhaps use some calibration.

"Autor! Hi! Thanks!" he says loudly and cheerfully, accepting the wine. "How're you doing? Here, have a…" He picks up a smoking jacket and looks at it in amused puzzlement. "One of these."

"A smoking jacket?" Autor says, just as puzzled. He takes the article of clothing and shrugs it on over his sweater. "Are you planning on smoking cigars?"

"Dude, no." He puts one on as well. It looks absolutely ridiculous over his uniform. "I think they're just supposed to look fancy and adult. You know, to go with the decor."

He attempts to look fancy and adult. The sudden case of the giggles kind of ruins it, though.

"Hey Enzo, congratulations." Guppy grins at him, having finally rounded up his brood and sent them off to bed.

Enzo looks downright absurd with a smoking jacket over his uniform, but he does not care in the slightest.

Indeed, he's far from plastered, just a little… loud. And his return hug may be a tad hard.

Red hasn't been around much, but when he walks into Milliways and finds out about the party, and who it's for, he turns around and marches right back out.

A few minutes later he returns with a hastily wrapped bundle.

Bundle on a nearby table, Red is trying to stuff himself into one of the smoking jackets.

Enzo is already wearing a smoking jacket, over his uniform.

"Hey, kid! Happy birthday!" Red greets Enzo, abandoning the jacket thing.

"Here, I got you something."

He hands over the bundle which is a T-shirt with the FBI logo serving as wrapping paper for a fancy box of cigars.

Guess which two people he stole these items from.

Okay, interesting wrapping. Enzo pulls the shirt away and blinks before starting to giggle.

Clementine is actually Prepared for this, okay - she got him a pretty nice gift with Sam - its even big looking! And bulky! And nicely wrapped!

She pauses and just blinks at the scene in utter incredulity. Of course the next words out of her mouth are very Clemlike.


"Oh my Goddess. You are waasted!"
