It's a few days after the New Year's Eve party, and Emcee has not been seen since then.
That's because he's been upstairs in his room, preferring to deal with hangovers and exhaustion on his own. It's all right. It's the good kind of exhaustion. But there is no good kind of hangover.
Eventually, in the wee hours of the night as is his nocturnal habit, he can be found curled up under a blanket in an armchair by the fire. He has the bottle of liquor that Yrael gifted him, and is sipping the gin-like spirit from a glass. He also has a container of Baze's peanut butter chocolate no-bake cookies, one of which he's nibbling on (he ate most of them while recovering). And there are earbuds in his ears, as he listens to the recordings Autor gave him of Autor's own own piano playing.

He spots Emcee, and raises his hand in greeting, unsure if the man wants company.

Noticing the gesture out of corner of his eye, he turns his head and smiles. He pulls the earbuds free and stops the player.
"Hallo, Baze," he says brightly enough. "How are you this evening? Thank you for these treats, by the way, I have no idea how you made them without baking them but they're delicious."
no subject
"Tired, but quite well, thanks for asking," Baze replies, smiling at the erstwhile bartender.
"How are you? And they're boiled, actually."

Learn something new every day.
"And I am perfectly marvelous, thank you," he purrs with a bit of a stretch, his toes pointing out from under the blanket. "Did you enjoy the rest of the party?"
no subject
"And yes! I met a lovely woman named Nancy, and we talked practically the whole night. Did you have a good time as well? I hope you did."
no subject
"I'm glad you met a new friend. I met Nancy at the first New Year's Eve party I threw here a couple of years ago. I hope she's doing well."
He laughs a little at the question. "It would be an odd thing indeed for me to not enjoy my own party, but I certainly did, very much so. Alas, it was all over so quickly... Oh! But now I have your party to look forward to!"
no subject
"And I'm glad you enjoyed your party. And yes, you do have our party to look forward to! I'm so excited for that. We're taking your advice, and including the cookies."
no subject
"Oh, excellent. I can't wait to see what else you come up with."
Now Emcee just...has to find a way to fill his time. He doesn't want to think about the thing he has to do. Not yet.
"Is that your special weapon that you're working on?"
no subject
"Yes," Baze says, gleefully, to the question.
"It's a lightbow, the traditional weapon of the Guardian of the Whills. I'm hoping that by finishing its construction, I can be a Guardian again."

"That was Autor playing, you know," he informs him. "He gave this to me at the party."

"He is. But I'm fairly sure these are recordings of him from before he was sent to war. He's doing a lot better these days, but I didn't think to ask if he'd taken up the piano again."

"Why, thank you, Galen, I'm so glad you enjoyed it," he says, his expression beaming in the glow of the firelight. "And I would love some, thank you. Bodhi first introduced it to me."

He goes to the bar for caf, and brings back a huge steaming mug for Emcee, and a smaller one for himself.
"I'd tell you just how much I enjoyed your party, and how memorable that midnight was, but I don't know if you can quite appreciate the appreciation right now."
His face is much livelier than Hannibal's, with little grins and grimaces and a genuine smile where Hannibal is all smooth, polite mask.
no subject
"Oh, I can appreciate quite a lot," he chuckles, blowing on the caf to cool it. "I did see you and Bodhi on the dance floor."
no subject
So not Hannibal at all.
