The seventh night of the second month is finally here! Baze has been preparing for his and Chirrut's birthday party--and the fireworks show--for months, and the night has arrived!

Like Emcee's party, everyone who has ordered something directly from the Bar has received an invitation to Baze and Chirrut's party. As promised in the announcement on the notice board, the party on the Caribbean beach is conducted in darkness, aside from the glowsticks situated in baskets dotted around the sand and the bonfire, crackling merrily along.

Tables set up around the sand groan with food and drink, and music mingles around the space. Baze and Chirrut are both present, also mingling, and Baze has foregone his armor.

Greetings/Bonfire

The bonfire sheds the only light around--with the exception of the glowsticks--and crackles merrily along, welcoming introverts and extroverts alike. Feel free to rest for a spell with a drink, or engage in quiet conversation.

But watch out, wallflowers, Baze will find you! And he has a basket filled with glowsticks and sparklers just waiting to be lit.

For the rest of the bar it's been a while since Ibani has been around. For her, it's been about six hours. Apparently, sand does terrible things to speeder engines, which is why she had to stop halfway to her destination.

On the plus side, that means she gets the birthday announcement from Bar!

"Hello, Baze, Chirrut," she calls as she heads toward them. "Looks like time between here and my side of the door has gone funny again."

He can appreciate a good bonfire, especially with a drink in hand. In fact, he may have been greedy and has a bottle in hand. He's probably noticed that one of the party throwers is the man who interfered in his fight with Logan, but it's not that important of a detail. He's just going to bask in the glow of the fire, pretending he can get drunk.

Rae smiled to see the invite come with her travel-mug of iced water she ordered from the bar, and wanders outside to see the party in full-swing.

She knows she won't be up for dancing, and straying too near the bonfire is a no-go, but she'll enjoy the music and conversation and food (and maybe a glowstick or two).

Ysalwen, with Liranan comfortably at her side, spends quite a while next to the bonfire, occasionally reaching into it to pull out a small handful of flame.

X is not a wallflower.

But she is sort of lurking in the darkness, because the bonfire is very bright, and the glowsticks are, too. This way she can see and hear (and smell) everything, and be comfortable knowing so many people are having fun.

Dancing

What is a beach party without dancing barefoot in the warm sand?

Just beyond the circle of light cast by the bonfire, speakers and a DJ stand have been set up on a slightly raised platform. Emcee is there, wearing a black tank top with a large glow-in-the-dark neon-pink kiss print on it, and boogieing behind the laptop. He cues up a mix of songs that contains lots of classic rock 'n' roll (some of which is aptly called 'surf rock'--who knew the beach had its own genre of music? and a band called The Beach Boys?), bouncy ska, and Latin pop and salsa.

So come on and cut footloose! Emcee wants to see those glowsticks as everyone dances!

Every so now and then, Emcee cues up a playlist of a dozen or so songs, which allows him to wander around and mingle, fetch drinks and food, and of course, dance.

He's recently discovered the Twist.

Who wants to do the Twist with him? Chubby Checker practically demands that you do so.

Sombra is definitely here for the dancing. She would love a partner, but dancing alone is also great.

Food and Drink

Tables along the perimeter of the dance floor groan with food and drink. Steamed buns made of dewback meat and dried lotus seeds, baked dru'un slices in fish sauce, and pumpkin soup with Ishi Tib-cracked coconut all have prominent places on the tables as Baze and Chirrut's favorites. Also prominent are shortbread cookies with berry jam. Small cheesecakes with cherries, individual-sized pumpkin pies, and a chocolate lava cake are among the desserts.

Moonshine--fruit-infused and plain--in mason jars rests on the drink table next to hard apple cider, stout, and red ale, all in bottles. As for non-alcoholic drinks, a steaming pot of hot chocolate with tang bark and a selection of teas--including sapir, of course--round out the choices. Bottled water completes the set.

What's a party without someone spiking the punch bowl?

As soon as he noticed things were happening, Wilford grabbed a fifth of vodka from the bar. Which mostly got emptied into the punch bowl. He probably could have poured some of the punch out to make more room for the booze, but effort.

And now he has a little left over to enjoy on his own while he starts wandering around to try out as many snacks as possible.

Eden has no idea what a birthday is! Or why it warrants a party! He's not going to complain about free food, though.

As it turns out, he is entirely capable of downing a small cheesecake in one gulp.

Who knew.

Graverobber is certainly not one to not take advantage of free food. He can be found circling the food table with a plate stacked high with food as he peers at even more, deciphering to himself what some of the dishes are. He also has a nice big bottle of red ale with him as well.

Khadgar has a bottle of water in a pocket, intrigued by the flexible glass material. He also has a plate he's adding small bits of everything he's never seen before, eager to try new things. He offers a pleasant smile to those he passes.

Currently he's eyeing the sign for chocolate lava cakes. Lava? In a cake?

Cassian knew the two being celebrated were from his world, but it's still nice to see a layout where he knows what most of the food is. He takes his time putting together a plate and gives the moonshine a careful sniff before choosing some ale. Then looks to see if he can find people he knows in among the shifting lights.

Okay, 'Barry and Cisco at a party version 2.0' is a go!

The duo have found their way out to the beach party after receiving the invite from Bar, and of course they've got to hit up the food spread. At the main table, Barry has one of the dewback steamed buns in hand, munching on it, and Cisco is standing by, watching intently for Barry's assessment.

"What is it?" Cisco asks, eyeing the bun.

"I dunno," Barry says, taking another bite.

"Well, what's it taste like?"

Barry chews thoughtfully, and shakes his had. "I-- don't know... "

"How about this one?"

"Dude, stop making me your guinea pig and try it yourself."

Cisco pouts, then holds up a bowl of the soup.

"Okay fine, but just try this one for me real quick."

"Cisco... "

Rae has found a seat near the food tables, and has a small group of cookies and a slice or two of pie waiting for her to finish the pumpkin soup she is taking her time savoring.

Though it may take a while. She isn't in any hurry, being careful in her handling of the spoon in her still-healing hands. It helps that the soup is ideal to muffle the baker's snickering at overheard conversations.

...Now she just needs to invent a recipe for a lava cake with more lava-like filling.... maybe strawberry? No, too pink. Raspberry and mango? With blackberries for the bits where the lava has started to cool?

This requires investigation.

Fireworks Show

The fireworks show is meant to delight the senses of sight and scent and hearing, and Baze delivers as best he can. He passes child-safe sparklers out to all who want them, with lighters and instructions to light them whenever people feel like having them lit.

The show is filled with "Tiger Tail" orange peonies with resounding booms, golden palm trees, and teal chrysanthemums with scarlet quills. Baze is especially proud of the ones that tease the sense of hearing--from crackling to warbling to whistling--as he made those specifically for Chirrut. Lining the lake's shoreline, there's also "screaming turbo candles," which screech and look like golden grains of wheat, made with charcoal stars.

During the climatic finale of the show--which involves 10,000 roman candles he purchased at the bar rather than making himself--Baze presses a button, and machines placed around the beach start whirring. Thousands of smoke-filled bubbles swirl around the partygoers, popping when they strike the sand and releasing the scent of sapir.

Graverobber grabs a seat and watches the fireworks show with clear impressed delight, eagerly watching each explosion soar through the sky. At the end, he claps enthusiastically and whistles.

And, as he jokingly promised Baze, he has a small fire extinguisher with him.

The firework show is definitely delightful. It is especially lovely because it is entirely unrelated to any political shows or Imperial propaganda, which is the chief reason Kanan has seen fireworks in the recent (and not-so-recent) past.

"You know," he says, peering up at the first of the golden palm trees exploding into light above him, "this is actually pretty nice."

(OOC: Since the invitation went out to everyone, I thought he'd come but all the darkness makes Cassian unnerved. So he'll be around the edges and can easily not meet. At some point we should consult on what might make sense going forward as I'm sure something is possible that won't break timelines.)

Cassian got the invitation and remembers the name Baze being mentioned from Jedha. A party in the dark seems like an invitation to trouble but perhaps a kind of safety too.

He's walked around the edges of the bonfire and when the fireworks start, he stares up, for a brief moment, he's a child again watching the sky fill with fire. Then a sound brings him back to Milliways and he releases his white grip on his blaster and takes a long drink of his beer.

Cassidy is not the kind of douchebag who wears sunglasses at night. (And Emcee is not the kind of douchebag who plays "Sunglasses at Night" when he sees Cassidy in the crowd.)

He does wear them indoors sometimes. But that's different.

This is different, too. He doesn't stare into bright flashes of light every day, so the sunglasses help with viewing the more spectacular fireworks.

Sitting on the sand with his back against a rock and a jar of moonshine in his hand, he oohs and ahhs at the spectacle, reaching out to pop the smoke bubbles, and applauding at the end. He wishes he had a joint to accompany the experience, but oh well.
