Bernard is slightly differently dressed when he enters the bar tonight. His hair is drenched, and he's wearing a 'Mamba Burger' red and yellow uniform over his usual clothes.

When he gets into the bar, he mutters "Thank fuck." under his breath, tears off the Mamba Burger shirt and hat, and dumps them on the bar. He gets a bottle of wine and goes to the fire to dry himself off.

He is going to kill Manny when he works out how to get back into his shop.

Graverobber's just chilling in a seat by the fire, nursing a beer and enjoying the warmth, when he sees Bernard coming over to the fireplace too.

"Hey there," he says, remembering Bernard and also that Bernard once paid him in beer for doing busywork, which had been a pretty good deal. Noticing the wet hair, he asks, "Bad day?"

"I've been locked out of the shop in the rain." Bernard says, grumpily. "By my idiot of an assistant."

"That sucks," he says, sympathetically. "I'd suggest breaking a window and sneaking in that way, but I guess that'd just let the rain into the shop instead."

"I would. Except we just had a high tech security system installed after Manny got us robbed." Bernard says.

"I wouldn't care about rain in the shop. He could lick it clean for punishment."

"Is Manny the assistant?" he asks, eyebrows up. "Because it sounds like Manny's a walking pile of disaster."

"He's more useless than I used to be on my own." Bernard says. "The only difference is that I can now usually leave the shop without having to close it or have Fran mind it."

"Fair enough, though it sounds like you also get locked out or need to buy shit to keep it watched," he says, shrugging slightly.

"I try to fire him on a weekly basis, and Fran bullies me into keeping him." Bernard says, taking off his jacket and hanging it in front of the fire.

"Fun times," he says, sipping his drink. "Who's Fran?"

Bernard debates which adjective to use.

"A friend." he says. "She runs the shop next door. She comes over for lunch and fawns over Manny."

"Ah, fun," he says. "Is that she wants to keep him around?"

"She says I'm too grumpy and not up to date and that I need him." Bernard scoffs.

"Huh, all right," he says, with a shrug. "Up to date, how, exactly?"

"She brings in all her magazines and she and Manny gossip about it." Bernard says. "I'm not into that sort of rubbish."

"Ah, okay, like celebrity gossip and all that?" he says. He's not in a position to judge; he would absolutely join in on that sort of thing. "Not sure how that applies to running a shop, but okay."

"It doesn't. She just likes having him next door." Bernard says. "She says I bully him, which is just rubbish."

"Bully him how?" he asks.

"I don't know, it's nonsense I tell you." Bernard says.

"Uh huh," he says, doubting that a bit. "Well, sounds like a hell of a fun work environment for ya then."

"So how's life in the grave robbing business? Steady pace of work?"

"Depends on how many people die recently," he says chipperly. "It's going okay. Haven't had to flee blindly from the cops in a while, so that's been nice."

"Fresh graves are easier, I assume."

"Yeah, freshly-dug dirt's usually an easier thing to work with," he says, "plus its better if the bodies haven't had too long to rot or its a more difficult job."

He says this all as casually as if he were discussing the weather.

"Depends if it's rained, I assume."

"Oh yeah," he says with a laugh. "Mud's a hell of a lot easier to dig, though running from the cops gets trickier if everything's soaked."

"This is a bizarre conversation." Bernard admits.

"That tends to happen when people talk to me," he says, brightly but honestly.
