Baze is in the kitchen today, heating a smelly concoction. With a smile on his face, he stirs the white flour and water together in a saucepan with a whisk, wearing rubber gloves--that he hates the feel of--on his hands. Next to him is a bottle of peppermint extract, a blue container of salt, and a box of Borax.
He's also belting out a bawdy drinking song at the top of his lungs, a song he's never understood completely--despite Chirrut's exasperated explanations--but knows all of the words to anyway. Once Baze gets to the lines like "the girls curls unfurl!" and the "coy boy toy grows, not shows!" he dissolves into giggles, unable to continue singing.

"I'm making wheat paste for fireworks."
no subject
Not that that takes much.

"Who gave Guppy's daughter fireworks?"

"No occasion, but I'm making fireworks just in case I find a good reason to set them off. Maybe a summer party by the lake."

But perhaps it's just how it feels on her chest.

He usually doesn't come by the kitchen -- it was the singing that drew him to it. And while there are often good, wholesome smells emanating from it, now is not exactly one of those times.

"Emcee! May the Force of others be with you!" Baze says, raising a gloved hand to wave. He turns the heat down on the malodorous wheat paste, and then gestures to Emcee to invite him farther inside, should he choose to come.
"So, you sang drinking songs at your club?"
no subject
Hands in his trouser pockets, he ambles inside, stopping a little bit away from the stove. He stands on his tiptoes and peers at what Baze is concocting.
"What in the whole wide universe are you making?"
no subject
"This is wheat paste for fireworks. I could just order it from Bar, but I'd rather make it myself. More fun this way."
no subject
Emcee delicately wrinkles his nose and drops back down to his heels.
"I had no idea that cooking was involved in the making of fireworks."
no subject
"I'm glad you managed to get fed from your singing voice."
Baze opens the container of salt, and begins to stir some into the wheat paste.
"Yeah! The making of the fireworks' stars involves a lot of mixing, if not cooking. And the wheat paste can't be made without boiling. So there's some skill involved, but anyone can learn how to do it!"
no subject
"How fascinating! I'm sure anyone can learn, though not everyone would have the patience or industriousness to go through the process. Though speaking of content and quality, I quite enjoyed your fireworks show at your birthday party, so all your hard work indeed pays off."
no subject
"I appreciate the compliment, thank you! I had a lot of fun with the fireworks show. It was originally for Chirrut, but other people seem to have enjoyed it, which is great. Graverobber brought a fire extinguisher."
