Even if the door back to the palace on Asgard had vanished, Sif hadn't stopped working. There were plans to calculate, battles to chart out, weapons to be tended to, and, if she allowed herself the thought, a little rest before the door returned. Upon further investigation there was no set period of time said door was ever gone. It seemed that it came and went as it willed depending on the person. While Sif was now fine with the chance to get things in order she couldn't deny at first she had been quite annoyed and had spent some time glaring at the wall with her arms crossed. Not that it worked, of course, but it did make her feel better.
Slightly.
For dinner she had asked Bar to surprise her with something, anything, she would think the Agardian would like. To her surprise the food that had appeared before her was nothing int he realm that she had ever tried. Bar had called it Barbecue, homemade chips, and a side of slaw. When asked where it hailed from the note simply stating 'Earth' had made her chuckle. Perhaps she counted the short-lived humans too short in their creativity at times. Of course the last time they had been to Midguard it had been quite some time ago. She would have to introduce her brothers to this BBQ should they ever come there.
Licking her fingers clean she paused reaching for her glass of lemonade to glance towards the large window as Ragnarok started again. A curious thing that window- perhaps one day she would inquire more about it when there was more time. For now she had plans to work out and wait for her door to return.

On his way, he passes Sif, noting her armor, that seems likely to not be from his galaxy and what she's eating, "That smells delicious."

When Cassian notes the delicious smell of her food the Lady gives an enthusiastic nod of her head, wiping sauce from the corner of her mouth. "Bar has said it is called pulled pork barbecue from Midg-" then she paused, smiling a little sheepishly before reaching for her class again, "Earth. It is from the planet Earth."
Shifting in her seat she motioned towards Bar with the sheepish grin quickly becoming wry. "If you have not had it before then may I suggest asking her for some? You are welcome to join me if you wish as well." See? She can be a friendly lady when she wants to be! As long as Cassian isn't Loki in disguise.
"These are also called 'chips' and this is a 'slaw' though I have yet to exactly figure out what this slaw is made from. It has quite an unusual taste that I find quite nice to the pallet." With each food she held up a little to show the man though, thankfully, manners required the slaw be moved with a fork. "It is quite filling."

"Filling would be nice. I've been traveling and haven't had access to a lot that's truly good. I think I've had chips here but not pulled pork. Bar, could I have the same and an Alderaan ale?"
He sits down beside her, stretching his shoulders as his food appears.

Once the man had taken a seat she pops half of the chip into her mouth. "I have never heard of this Alderaan ale that you have requested. Tell me, what system is it in? Perhaps it is close to my home." Or perhaps not. If she knew the system then perhaps Sif could figure out exactly where the place was at.

Her style of armor is elegant and clearly quality, perhaps she's connected to a prosperous world or a bounty hunter. He takes a long drink of his ale before considering how best to start on the pork.

Looking back at Cassian she quirked a brow at that. No- she had never heard of this system before nor a Core in which he spoke. It must have been farther out than she had suspected for her not to know of it. Perhaps, next time she saw Thor, she would ask him. "We have had a peaceful rule until recent events. Those infringing on the people under Asgard's protection will be dealt with swiftly and efficiently." One the door returned that was. Hazel eyes quickly scanned towards the wall where the door should have been before looking back to Cassian.
"I have not heard of this system before which is surprising. Though it is my understanding that Milliways brings people in from everywhere." Wiping her hands clean she offered Cassian one as was Earth tradition in greeting. "I am Lady Sif of Asgard. Well met, friend."

Perking up she turned her attention fully on the man beside of her now, the wonderful food all but forgotten. "You have heard of Asgard? From here?" She had never heard of his, which was unfortunate all things considered, but Sif was sure she knew whom she could ask about Alderaan. Her brother was all-seeing after all.
"Cassian son of Andor. It is good to meet a pilot- those with skills of exploring the skies are important and such skills highly valued." While Sif was a decent pilot she would never call herself one. She was better with sword and spear than flying like a bird.
When the topic turned to change in her world she shrugged simply, picking up another chip to break in half. "A story for another day perhaps. For now we both have good food to fill our bellies and company to enjoy rather."

The way she says it makes what he does seem wonderful when being a pilot is one of his favorite parts of his work, but not what he mainly does. At her change of subject, he starts on his pork with a nod, he understands not wanting to talk of what's going wrong.

Thor Odinson was there?
The look on her face was priceless: first her eyes went wide, shock clearly on her face, before something else started to peek through, before finally she pressed her lips into a thin, flat line. "That... that... rat! I will have to give that man a piece of my mind next time I see him! He's never been one good at keeping such things as this a secret! Oh that..."
Taking a loud breath through her nose she released it just as loud, stuffing a bite of food into her mouth as she turned her attention to taking her frustration out on the poor plate rather than Cassian. "Thor is... he's one of my oldest friends and a man I would follow to Ragnarok and back with. The fact he never even mentioned this place astounds me. Here I thought it was one of our other friends that had pulled a practical joke on me! I will have to have words with Thor when next I see him."

"Its possible that you've found Milliways at different points in time. Milliways is strange in that way. I've met people from my universe but thousands of years before, twenty years before and after as well."
no subject
"We Asgardians are quite long lived. Unless he is from the future then I will speak with him regardless so there is better preparedness for arrivals." Popping another chip into her mouth she considered something for a moment before turning her attention to other things. "Do tell me about this Alderaan. It is not a system that I am familiar with, as I have said before."

Alderaan and the Organas give hope and a reminder of how the galaxy could be.

A few times actually.
That was the Green Man- a legend in himself.
Opening her mouth to speak she found herself at a loss of words before she finally frowned. It wasn't often that Sif was ever speechless.
"I do not believe that we have met before.."
no subject
"I don't think we have. I'm Dr. Alec Holland." He extends a large leafy hand.
no subject
"I know of you- or, more so, stories of the Green Man. Well met, Doctor Alec son of Holland. I am Lady Sif of Asgard." It wasn't long before a small blush danced across her cheeks. "You will have to forgive me for my reaction. Even among my kind the legends of the Green Man fueled may adventures of the youth."
no subject
"I am not specifically the Green Man, though clearly the legends of him are drawing my many predecessors, and the tale of Gawain and the Green Man no doubt happened in some fashion." He really needs to re-read that someday. "I am an Avatar of the Green, more than a 'Green Man."
no subject
"I am unfamiliar with the term Avatar of the Green. Perhaps you may be able to enlighten me?" There was certainly curiosity in her tone, a hopeful look upon her face. If anything Sif loved a good story and knowledge. Everything that Alec said to her was new as well as exciting.

"Each part of nature has an avatar. A person who defends it again the rest of nature and the onslaught of man. And most of the time, the avatar is a human being with an affinity for that part of nature. I have always had an affinity for plants, so that sort of led me to be the Avatar."
no subject
As Alec started to explain what the avatars were she set forward intent on every word he said. What he said was fascinating! Was it true through her door that there were such beings as these Avatars too? Perhaps, once there was time, she would ask Odin if he knew of such beings. "Forgive me if this is too personal a question, but curiosity demands I ask. Under the exterior do you still retain your human form? Is the outside much like your armor?"
no subject
"That is a good question. Most of the avatars have a plant form over their mortal human forms. I do not, not anymore. It was necessary, and difficult, and was used against me, but I am essentially entirely plant. Except for my mind and soul." Assuming you believe in the latter.
